Default Axail Aluminum shock bodies?

i was wondering if anybody has the aluminum shock bodies and how are they? Considering the stock shafts are ti nitride they might be a great shock set up. Does anyone drill out their pistons?if so how has it worked for you?

Never used them but for the price you could just spend a little but more money and get some Losi 4in crawler shocks ..They are worth every penny

X2

You still have the plastic cap with the Axials, that is their only downfall.

when u buy the shock bodies thats exactly what you get. only the shock bodies. you still use the original plastic caps and shafts.
im actually regreting buying a set for my rig, mainly cause of the fact that they seem extremly over priced. for their price i think they should have come as a complete set and not just the bodies.
they seem to work well. i havent had any problems w/ them but i would have rather prefered to buy the losi shocks and keep the stock shocks as a back up

Spend the extra bucks for the Losis. They're a much better shock than the stock shocks.

im running the ckrc shocks with stock axial shafts. thats cheaper than buying the axial bodies and gets you all aluminum threaded shocks. also, i really like the soft springs that it comes with and run them front and rear.

I would experiment with different oil weights before I drilled the pistons. Oils can always be changed, drilling is permanent..

Given that they're a shock from a highly competitive buggy, I'll bet that there are piston kits available to give you a selection to play with. I'm pretty happy with the stock setup.

can someone give me the part number for the Losi shocks...nobody around here knows what I am talking about and I can't find a length corresponding with a part number to order the right shocks.

STRC is also doing metal copies of the Axial bodies:

http://www.teamstrc.com/ebproductdet...inid=15&id=231

(in several different colours if you are fashion concious, LOL)

$27.99 for a set of 4 bodies

Team those up with Traxxas #2667 shock caps for an alternative all metal shock solution that does not require length correction.

BTW delrin pivot balls from Kyosho (pn#KYOLA213) are a perfect fit in these caps.....

Just as an addendum to my above post use thin O-rings (like the ones that come with Team Associated shocks) to seal the cap to the body. The stock orange ones from the Axial caps are too thick. They don't allow the cap to thread far enough onto the body to be secure.

Another warning: No more than hand tight for the caps, otherwise you will strip the threads on the shock bodies. It would seem that they are made out of a fairly soft grade of aluminum.
