| MFM Black Widow
Well, I have had this thing now for a couple weeks and just finally got around to puttin' it all together. I still need to make the body mounts and buy the body. Probably going to go with either a bug body or a J Concepts. This will be the first crawler that I have built (other than the scaler that I never finished ) that has no rear steer. I have always just built my rigs to have fun with and not compete, but I figured it was time to get more involved in comps...so away with the rear servo Figured if I wanted to have fun with a rear steer rig...I still have the original WK Widow and the super in the garage. MFM Black Widow Chassis Axial Axles HR Lockouts rear & alum knuckles front Bonus Line Chromo Lockers Axial Trans Holmes Puller 7t Mamba Max (swapped from the Sidewinder in the pics) HiTec 985MG Plain Jane Maxx Shocks In Full Droop MSD aluminum 'locks Panther Cougers All Acetal/Revo linkage 1/8" acetal axle plates from my own templates. Custom elec. shelf made from an RC4WD Clod axle plate... Comes in right at an even 3 lbs. with battery on board...and a total of 5 lbs. 13 oz. with tires/wheels installed. Anyway, here's the pics. I want to try out a set of the Junfac Zero shocks on it, but I am waiting for those to be in stock at RPP. I also need to get my hands on a DNA dig and throw that in a bit later. Hoping to get it out on the rocks next weekend...with video Last edited by Offroader5; 08-07-2008 at 06:25 PM. |

Nice build! Looks real clean eith all the black. I'm working on a build with the chassis. Out of curiosity, what's your belly height at rest and full droop? Mine seems a bit much

Looks a great build. What is the eye to eye length of the lower links? I'm about to order a chassis and would like to make up some links while i wait for it. Also, how did you bend the front steering link? Thanks Neil |

Damn nice build there. I love the all black look as well. I am glad I got one of these chassis. Seems to be quite popular with a lot of people!

I may throw a tad bit longer shock on there to get myself the added belly height, and at the same time gain just a bit more droop...but I'll try it out like it is first before I change anything, I tend to like the low belly draggers. Thanks. Yeah, I am quite the photobuff too....and my slight OCD shows through in that as well Quote:
All the links on my rigs are acetal sleeved over a full length piece of 8-32 threaded rod, so the links are solid. With the threaded rod running tight down the center, bending is as easy as putting it in my hobby vise and giving it a bit of a tweek. Usually can do it by hand, but if the links are short...you could use a plastic or rubber mallet and give it a bit of a wack. _________________________ Couple of pics with the tires/wheels bolted up: I might have to try out the black MSD's I have with black rings and see how she looks totally blacked out. | Very short at 74mm. Keep in mind, this is with these particular upper link plates. If you're using different plates, you my need different length links.

Still loving the build but I need to know what you did for your driveshafts? They almost look like maxx yokes in the one picture. Mind telling me? I am having a hell of a time getting the maxx yokes drilled out.
