Default Upper link suggestions

What do people suggest for the best use of the upper links? 4 link or 3?

I'm new to the axial world and just began building a competition rig. I'm running CKRC rockstar chassis, their stage 2 kit with additional bent links and a few other goodies I'll eventually post. However, I purchased their "Viper" 3 link connecter for both the front and rear shown here.

I'm not too thrilled about it and should have read up on it. It requires to remove ax80003-3 which leaves only 2 mounting locations. Not to mention, after installing, suspension travel is reduced. With the axial rod end mounted sideways, sideways axle movement appears to be reduced... Haven't tested.

Anyone have a different suggestion?

Aren't those both the same with the exception that the first one has a spot for the servo?

you can use the uppers supplied with the stage 2 kit w/ your stock axial servo mount plates. Drill two holes toward the outer edge of the servo plates and Blam, four link @ no additional cost.

or get some TLT suspension stays (triangle ones) and drill 2 holes in the servo plate, mount the uppers and voila! 4 link with a little antisquat for less than 5 bucks.

Not that reduce travel is a bad thing. Too much articulation is a killer on the rocks. And depending what you mean by sideways axle movement appears to be reduced, that's a good thing. You want that axle to be rock solid. As for the 2 mounting locations versus 3 mounting locations, the 3 mounting location is probably stronger but i don't see any issues with just 2. Can you move the plate during articulation? If the answer is no, then you should be fine. I would say, take it on the rocks and see how it runs.

BTW, I have not read any reviews on the mounts. Just going by the pics.

i didnt really wanto to start a new thread because my question also pertains to a 4 link set up

but what are the advantages of the 4 linkk vs the 3 link

i read on tcs that it helps w/ reducing torque twist but is there any other reason for it ?

and does a 4 link use the same upper links as a stock ax10? if show what is the length of each upper link eylet to eylet
i ask because i have an rtr and the upper links is one solid piece

A four link is the perfered set up do to its overall benefits. The four link offers more controlled articulation, reduced side movement, reduced torque twist and an overall more consistant feel to your crawler's suspension cycle. Do it it is already paid for other than a little time.

With the standard upper link from the KIT version of the Scorpion they are fine. Just look through these. There are option for changing. The stock upper links are 55mm I think. Sorry if I am wrong - at work. You may have to buy this as well. I think this is the set that has the bent link ends to make up for the bend in the plastic ones you have now.

Has anyone ran the 70mm upper (like the one supplied in the stage 2 kit) w/ a 4 link? I'm already running the TCS plates front an rear w/ 57ish mm uppers (home brewed) and love it over my stock RTR crap. I just wonder if switching to the 70mm will be worth it...?
