www.tcscrawlers.com has a six cell split pack for $20.99. They also have a MRC 960 Brain charger for $48.99. I suggest you get deans plugs and use them to connect everything. Put female on the battery and motor, then put male on the speedo and charger. When the plug is flat on the table, solder the red wire to the verticle tab. Here's some advice I learned the hard way; use a pair of pliers held closed with a rubber band to hold the plug. Deans plugs have the same resistence as an equal length of wire and are easier to connect and disconnect than bullet or tamiya connectors.

I dont know much about that esc but id stick with a 6 cell. I like the traxxas plug better because theres more surface to unplug them(grab on to)

I agree but I had deans plugs before traxxas came out with that plug. I have heard great things about the traxxas plugs. (a.k.a. theyhave no more resistence than deans) Don't get a seven cell unless you KNOW the esc won't fry. With a 35 turn motor six cells is plenty of torque and wheelspeed. Actually, a 35t makes more torque on 6 cells than a 55t. Apparently, it all has to do with amp draw; the 35t drawing more amps than the 55t. 55 turn motors don't make full power until about 10 volts.

The convention should be to use female connectors on power SOURCES to minimize the potential for short circuits. It also prevents mixing up the speedo motor & battery connections.

Thus female on the battery and speedo output (to motor)and male on the speedo input (from battery), motor, and charger.

The charger is the only departure from the convention, as we need to put power into battery before we can get it out to run our crawlers!!!
