Default brushless vs. holmes 7t

ok so which is a better all around setup. the holmes 7t or the 18 brushless novak, whichever is considered the crawler motor. by overall i mean runtime and range of power. best top speed and low speed crawl ability

I think you'll find the preformance of both are extremely similar. Both provide silky smooth start ups and awesome low speed control they both have explosive wheel speed when needed. You need to compare the costs for both systems. Either system will give you a fabulous set up IMO.

What about runtime? Also there is a lower turn novak BL crawler motor, anyone tried it?

i guess that is it then.

i do really like my 7t. only draw back is low run times. 1 1/2 hour runtimes with the novak system would have made me second guess my purchase though had known that.

I was aware of the optional 21.5T Novak crawler motor but I assumed the 18.5 was the lowest T Novak crawler specific motor and is the crawler system standard motor. My 18.5 runs bettween 50-60 mins.with a 15 T pinion threw a R2D using a 6 cell 1500 NiMH pack.

Yeah they are comboing the 18 turn with the bl esc for a crawler setup - so its probably better with the 18 turn but just wondering if anyone had tried the novak setup with the 21 turn.

i run the 18.5 novak brushless with a thunder power 2100 mah 24c lipo and i get over 3 hrs of run time its great, i much rather have a brushless set up than brushed and if the wallet can handel it get a lipo tons more power and runtime than nicd or ni-mh

I agree that lipo's provide great power and last a long time for the weight but the shape and size can limit thier placement options, so much so that i've gone back to Elite 1500 NiMH for my comp rig

I ran a puller 7T with a 12 tooth pinion and I get 2 to 2.5 hrs with a 2200mah 3s lipo. Most consider the performance equal. I do like the sound of the brushless motor.

From what I understand the 21.5 Novak motor is even slower and more controllable on the bottom side but then you sacrifice some wheel speed. I think the 18.5 is just right for me I have it geared 15t pinion threw a R2D tranny and I have great bottom end control and plenty wheel speed.

Gear mesh? I only say that because I just worked on cleaning mine after a run and noticed it was real tight, mine may have been jarred or something.

I checked mine, one thing I noticed is my 7t holds my truck like its a drag brake. I have the brakes turned off in the esc, and it still holds strong. I looked at the mesh and it has little to no play, but slides right off when its loose. The 7t has way more power and speed over the 55t motors, but way less run time.

Yeah my 55t holds the truck in place. How much less runtime on the 7t? I was considering that, or going BL.

Whos 12T pinion and whos 2200mah 3s lipo are you using?

Also what ESC and BEC are you using on your crawler?

unless that 1600 is a 30C plus pack, which I highly doubt, it can not put out enough current for the puller motor. I am running a 25C 2200mAh lipo and am getting decent run times, never timed it tho.
