| AX10 Front shock "Stiction"
Hi all, need some help with a problem I currently have with my AX10 front shocks. After some really hard drives, my front shocks are not articulating my front end. When approaching a shear 90 wall (6 inch curb), it would unload without articulating the front suspension. It would only unload when the weight of the vehicle exceeds the threshold of stiction and it unsettles the car enough to roll it. They had RED Axial springs and 30WT stock oil installed. Currently, I'm running a set of old after market aluminum shocks and they work great! However, I've lost the ride height the stock Axial shocks provided. Short of buying a new chassis to fix the ride height issue, I'm just going to leave it configured like this for now. Question: What is the best way to fix this issue on stock Axial shocks? Replace the stock plastic bodies with aluminum bodies? Will that help? The problem as I see it it the bottom cup of the shock, not enough o-rings in there to keep the shock shaft in check when it's moving up/down/right/left as your suspension articulates. Buy shorter shocks is the best way to keep that in check, so which chassis will offer me the most locations and bump my ride height back up? -MC |

Long shocks aren't real key. I mean the stockers tend to offer too much travel.

Yah, I'm seeing that problem now. They are too long and because of that, they have too much lateral movement in the shock shaft, which was causing the issue.

Ditched! I already replaced them with my aluminum shocks that are shorter and more stout. |
