I run the HR dig with thunder tech short MIP in the rear on a black widow chassis with no problems, infact the MIP fit better on this chassis then it did on the stock AX10! |

i used a L-shape alumin bar and cut it into a small piece i mount one side of it on the dig plate then i mount the servo on the original ax10 servo plate, which has a hole in the middle, then i mount the servo plate on the other side of the L-shaped alumin piece

Did you end up getting pictures? I recently ordered the dig and was looking to get the black widow chassis but would like to see how the dig was mounted, thanks.

I bought one of these used and am trying to install it. Does the dig's tranny output have threads for the 3 screws that hold it to the stock axial output? Mine don't. I just want to know before I tap it and replace with a slightly bigger screw. It definitely will not work without being threaded. Edit: Derrr, you have to use the THREADED side of the stock output with the dig's replacement output. And make sure that you're rested before starting on it. Got mine installed. Works very well. Only issue I have is the HS-225MG isn't quite powerful enough to pull it sequentially in all 3 positions. Full on and off works fine but going full on to 1/2 way(freewheel) or full off to 1/2 way does not due to servo not powerful enough to hold that small exacting movement. |

I just installed mine in about an hour using the pic in this thread and it is a good unit for my first dig. I used the oblong hole and drilled another for the servo using a smaller HiTech hs5085mg. So far I would reccommend this dig for a beginning unit...

This is the first major mod to my AX10 since I put the kit together. This is one of my first post (this might be my first on this forum, read: lurking) so hi all. Just got my HR dig in yesterday afternoon, so I sat down and installed it. First off, no instructions? I generally do just fine with out instructions and enjoy a challenge. I quickly figured out how to mount the main unit, flip the transmission ect. overall things generally made sense. A few pics from the HR web site helped with the servo configuration. I am not impressed with the HR website and the lack of basic instructions. I guess a casual RC person may never be in the market for a dig unit, but still, lame... At least give me a crappy xerox of some bad photos of the dig installed. Or something like this... 1. remove stock transmission and open 2. replace out drive with HR out drive 3. mount HR dig assembly (you may need to loosen the cover to back-off mounting screws) 4. Mount dig servo and arm assembly (see pic) 5. flip base plate and mount transmission backwards 6. shorten rear drive shaft and put it all back together 7. play with your radio and servos for a long time 8. enjoy Okay I'm sure I left some details out but come on... that took me a few minutes and I am not even making money off the sale of said parts. A few camera phone pics later and we would have documentation. Alright enough of my rant. Other than that, the stock drive shafts caused a lot of headache. I was able to trim them easy enough, however it did not want to extend easy and this caused problems with the operation of the dig. When I wanted the dig to engage the rear wheels (4WD) the drive shaft would not extend and this eventually caused me to fry a high torque servo during testing. This was me not being patent enough, I'm sure. Let me be clear, I am not trying to say that the dig busted my servo. Regardless, I would defiantly recommend an aftermarket drive shaft anyway. (Strange, but I can't say that I've had a problem with the shafts slipping or "jumping" splines.) Speaking of drive shafts, have any other HR dig users experienced interference of the rear drive shaft and linkage mounting screw/nut? So yea, Pros: Decent hardware Kit includes all parts needed (BYOS, Bring Your Own Servo is a given) simple Cons: No documentation no documentation on the web lack of documentation So yea, decent unit. |

So does anyone have any problems with these to add, thinking of getting one eventually and just curious if anyone has broken these or do they hold up well.

QUESTION ??? about HR dig. There are 2 listed, which one is the "ONE" SCP39L01 or SCP38X01 which shows the top mounting plate in the picture. Both are shown on Liquid RC. The 38# is a bit cheaper which is weird. Any help would be Appreciated.. Thanks, Greg Sorry, had trouble with the links, I added them below. Last edited by madkawi650; 10-27-2010 at 04:48 AM. |
