Default RTR poor radio reception

Noticed that even on a fresh pack, radio reception (at least in my apartment building) is limited to about 30-40 feet. Go past that, and the whole truck stops; no throttle or steering control. I can also hear the steering servo glitch intermittently. Is this typical of the stock radios and receivers that come with the RTR trucks, or is this indicative of another problem?

BTW, I have the antenna wire extended completely through the tube, then the excess was taped around the antenna tube.

i dont intend to be rude but why do you need to go any further than 40ft away? 40ft is pretty far when you really think about it. its a crawler, not a race truck, everyone i know with a crawler is never more than 10ft away when were crawlin. they also put cheap electronics in the RTR and therefore you dont get the resception you would with a more expensive radio system. again i apologize if come off being rude, im just trying to help.

I have a traxxas radio in my kit truck and only get about 25ft to 35ft with the antenna under the body. I'm usually no more than 15ft away though so it really doesn't bother me.

Same here, i get about 35 feet witha TQ3 system. In my opinion you are ok in that range you are aquiring. Want better distance? Get a dx3.0 system.

No offense taken. Apart from this Axial, I also have an RTR XTM X-Factor 2 nitro that is still using the stock AM radio. The antenna wire accidentally got cut past the top of the tube opening on that truck, yet radio range is much farther. I can drive that truck from one end of a football field to the other with no problems.

I understand that when crawling, there's no need to be far away from the truck, but I'm just surprised that I can't seem to go from one end of a 100 foot hallway to the other without the radio cutting out.

BTW, I do have the transmitter antenna fully extended. Doesn't seem to help.

I think this is common, I have the stock radio and reciever and in my house I can't even go past my tv 10 feet away total, because there is so my interference. So imagine how many tv's and what nots are in an apartment complex.......
