$400 to Spend
 

Here's the scenario.

You have a stock Axial AX10 with Castle Sidewinder, bec, Hitec 7955tg servo, Spektrum DX3R, and a choice of 2 different motors: Novak 55t and Matrix 75t. Stock wheels/tires have been replaced with Proline Flat Iron's w/memory foam mounted to eight shooter wheels.

You have 400 bucks to spend on upgrades, what do you buy? What aluminum parts do you upgrade? What chassis do you go with?

I've been making a list for my crawler and just thought it would be fun to see what others would do, maybe i can get some ideas.

Oh wow.. you've opened the flood gates with this thread title... First, if you don't have them, get aluminum links. Then get lockouts for the rear, as well as alum knuckles and c's for the front. That's where I'd start. Then worry about chassis's etc..

Aluminum knuckles and C's for the front, especially with that hoss servo, lockouts and straight axles for the rear. I like RCP's stuff pretty well.
Upgraded lockers if your's is a kit truck.
I'd invest in some losi rock claws or panther cougars, they've both consistently outperformed the proline tires in my experience. Different terrain and driving style might give you better luck with the hammers than I had though.
A better motor. You wouldn't believe the difference. Look into a cobalt puller or handwound 540 from Holmes Hobbies The JP's handwounds also rock.
CVD's will give you more steering angle. The stock axles are plenty strong though, and easier to find replacements. There's some give and take there, but I'd go for the CVD's
Dig. The DNA dig is very good.
This one's very subjective, but I'd personally step into a full comp chassis. Everybody on here has their own idea on what works best, I'd go for a SWX.
Good shocks. If you go for a different chassis, you should base your choice on what length the chassis was designed for. The SWX was designed for 4" shocks, and the losi crawler shocks are the hands down best in that length IMO. Their length won't work with every chassis though.
4 Link plates. This one's up to you. Some people like the 3 link, I like the tuning options of the 4 link. Do some research and make your own decision.
Bent Links. Delrin links slide over rocks better than aluminum, and I'd personally upgrade to the much stronger traxxas Revo rod ends, at least on the lower links. Delrin links may be slightly weaker than the aluminum ones, but they're plenty strong, much better than the RTR plastic links. If you don't want to make your own, Xtreme RC hobbies has them. I think SW3/axial links would be the same length, don't hold me to that though.

actually you should figure out what chassis your gonna get before you worry about links b/c a lot of the aftremarket chassis's use diff. length links teh a stock ax-10

Get a set of HR axles and some Sniper beadlocks.

Your truck will appear unstopable compared to how it runs now.

Until you run electronic dig, you do not realize how much mechanical dig sucks.
