Default Ride height versus max height

I've searched and found a few different answers but not much is said about this. Just curious of where your ride height is versus how high your suspension will raise past ride height. I know everyone is different, just curious to hear some feedback. Droop guys too.

My ride height is 2.5" to 2.75" depending on setup and will raise to 3.25".

It also depends if your are running droop or sprung. I run sprung and it sits at 2.75 belly clearance on a level surface. There is alot to be said trying to figure out your belly lift during articulation. that all depends on you setup, length of your links, triangulation etc. With regards to your body, if your are competing get it as low as possible and trim the bottom of the body so it doesn't drag. USRCCA rules say 3" roof to bottom. Trim it and slam it. this will help if you rollover. the closer you can gets the tires to the ground when it is on its lid the better chance you have to get it to upright itself

I think you guys are misunderstanding what I am asking. Basically at ride height your belly clearance is (x) amount then if you lift your chassis up to where the shocks are fully extended, tires on the ground of course, what is the new belly clearance.

Basically wondering on how close to the end of your shock travel is your ride height.

I would say the max you want to get the uptravel to is making the belly clearance around 3.25 inches. Otherwise you start to run into lots of axle steer and a very short wb. I personally prefer very little to no uptravel because the rig seems more stable and sticks to the ground more.

mine sits at 3" and full extension is 3.5" at the top of the body is 8.5" and my wheelbase is 13" all on the stock chassis

I agree...the less shock travel and the way you setup the links are the key elements to stabalization when crawling...mine squats @ 2.25" and erect @ 3.25" which is 1" of shock travel more than enough to crawl and be planted to the surface...remember alot of articulation is over-rated...

My truck sits where my springs will barely hold the truck fully extended. There fore you know where your center of balance will always be. you will have no unloading of your truck. Some people prefer sag in their shocks. Droop is completely opposite. Start with a little stiifer spring in the rear to fully keep your shocks fully extended when pushed on and released. Use some soft front springs so when you push down on the front and release it barely returns to fully extended. Use a little thicker oil than what you are used to. Many people don't realize how slow our shocks work compared to a buggy or truck for racing. You want your shock to work and keep your truck under control during a climb. Thin oil can allow your shock to react too fast and upset the rig. Back to the main subject sit your belly clearance with your shock fully extended. I think you will be most pleased

My preference with my current sprung rigs is a hybrid. I run internal springs like droop and regular external springs. I set it up so the springs neutral out at about 2/3 - 3/4 extended. I usually go for a belly clearence of 2.75" with a max extension of 3" on a 12.5" wheelbase config. On my shorter builds, I go lower for CG but keep the same break over capabilities. My 11.5 wheelbase configs end up around 2.25 - 2.5" depending on how tall a tire and how wide the track width is.
