nice rig. like the red body. the blue looks good but the comp cut tail on the red seems like it would give more articulation without getting into the body to much. again, nice rig.

Hank could not justify buying another betty body when people are giving them away. The Rockstar body is very short and does not afect articulation.

Thumbs up Rock Star

Hank will love his Rock Star, I know I do. The only complaint I have is the plastic is a little thin. Other than that I think it is the coolest looking body out today by far.

Hank has been slacking latly on his build. Just fixing what ever breaks. He did get 2nd in our last local comp. One of the wires pull out of the recever and was creating a glitch that made it inpossible to complete the bonus coarse.

Here are some new pix thanks to Tonka.

Hank and I just put in a 43/13 gear set in the rear of his truck. We are both undecided about the results. You can tell that there is some bind in the drive-line. Not bad, it's just not as smooth as it was. There was more of a loss in wheel speed than we figured.

I marked off the turning radius before and after switching the gear set and it does turn sharper under light throttle. Full speed it is about the same.

I think we will go up a tooth on the pinion to get the wheel speed back where it was and do some further testing.

Thanks for looking.

After trying to get through to CKRC for at least a week he finally got to talk to Jack who ended up sending me some replacement parts. Yeah CKRC. There costummer servace is crazy slow but they did come through.

I helped Hank get the new parts installed and set up. Instead of modifying the output like last time I got Chromoly outputs and modified the dig output to fit the trany output. The dig unit worked great last night.

yeah my ckrc dig didnt fit right either. i made them install it and they said it took like 6 hours and the designer, jack, was building it too. they didnt charge me for it so its fine. ive heard some fit great and if they dont they dont work at all. just a matter of luck:-(

Check out post 314 and 315. As I have found them very helpful when setting up the rear of the truck.

funny as mate, Hank likes to get his hands dirty good to see .I was getting a bit worried about his Village People mustache, & tight T. It almost came across like he was a bit Ghay, but hadn't actually came out of the closet yet.
Maybe a few pics of him at the diner with a hot date will put an end to all the rumors and innuendo..

Here is a little update from Hank. Hank is all about the wheel speed here lately with all of the guys he comps with running 35turn hand wound motors he had to have one. He ended up getting a Holmes Hobby 35turn.

He also switched to the Axial slow speed gear set in the rear. The truck does turn a little sharper at very slow speed. Not sure if they are worth all the hype though.

Hank also gave up on the CVDs and went back to dogbones in the front axle. There was also a little issue with some gear in the trans. It seems when you don't have to worry about breaking CVD's you can get very abusive before you find the next week link. He also switched to the DNA steel dig internalls and dicovered that they work much better with almost no grease on them.

I think that brings you up to date. Thanks for looking.

There was a learning curve with going bak to Dogbones. Broken housing boo.

Hank with his broke junk. It still amazes me how much dabree is in the nooks and crannys of the trans after the gears let go.

I don't know what's crazier, the fact that I like this whole cartoon strip style build/life span thread, or that I just found it about 30 minutes ago and read it from page one all the way to the last post......

This is a great build thread, Hank is a pretty good mechanic and adds the fun aspect to the whole thing.
Thanks, it makes me want to do another with my crew of little helpers.

The JPcustoms chassis is very similar to the stock chassis but, it has way more ajustibility for your upper links. Hank has been very happy with it.

There should be some updates at the end of the week. Hank has a few things on order.
