| AKRCC Ares chassis
I want to thank Rocky,Jeremy and everyone else thats working with AKRCC. We all have put a good deal of effort in trying to set this chassis up for performance and for use with several different platform. I think we've got a really good set up here and it's a breeze to set up. The machine and water jet work involved here are very nice. I decided to do something a bit different with the finish on my chassis compared to the other members of AKRCC and polish mine. A little BLING never hurts. Specs: Axial axles and tranny AKRCC Ares chassis Axial lowers for the front lowers Doubled up Axial uppers for the front uppers CDW upper rear link mount CDW chromoly outputs RCP Crawlers stainless straight axles and adapters. Custom length uppers and lower in the rear to get 12.5" on the dot. Aluminum Maxx shocks up front Revo shocks out back 55t motor (soon to be a 35t Holmes Hobbies handwound) Panther Cougars with a mix of Proline and Axial wheels. Soon to come: A new tranny mounted dig set up RCP High clearence knuckles and adjustable C's Still need to install the cross members, build body mounts and wire it up. This is my sons comp rig,he will be finishing it up and doing more testing this Sunday when he comes up. Other than the rear links I made at work,he has built the entire rig on his own. More pictures to come. I'll have him to log in and give his own feedback. Last edited by Reflection; 11-21-2008 at 08:44 PM. |

| Only real issue with the stock axial chassis is the lack of adjustability, in which this solves, and the width, which this also solves.. Afterall, the 'basic" shape of the stock axial is just a TVP design, same with just about anything else out there. |

One thing that is critical to getting a shafty to perform is proper squat/anti squat numbers. Hard to adjust that on the stock chassis without drilling holes....and even at that, your limited to where you can drill. Drilling holes in the stock chassis weakens them a good deal,I've snapped several stock plates after drilling them. Since building this rig,I switched the weight bias back toward the front. Didn't really care for the first attempt. Does work allot better with the weight bias up front. Right now,I've got the valving in the shocks all wrong, little to stiff. Crawls good, just a bit stiff up front. This weekend I'm gonna take the shocks off and let my son rebuild them with some lighter oil. That should loosen things up a bit and help it allot. | |
