I also read that you cant use stock axial links because they make the wheelbase too long. What length lower links to you have to use to maintain a 12.5 wheelbase? Thanks
If you didn't use the lower links that MFM sends you with the chassis, they would need to be about 4.25" eye to eye.

I am a veteran to crawling and I can say that the BW is one of the most capable platforms that I have ever used. MFM could ask $100.00 for this chassis and get it easy.

Is anyone using Rustler shocks with their black widow? If so, what springs are you running?

I am. In the front I am using the springs that came with the CKRC Level 2 kit, I cut them down to fit, very soft. In the rear, I hace some silver springs that I friend gave me. Not sure the type. They are medium soft. Personally, I hate the rustler shocks, too short for my taste, I need my clearance.

Good to know... I might use my Maxx shocks first to see how they work. Thanks

Default MFM-Black Widow

Here are some pictures of mine. I bought mine before they offered the links.

Specs:
Hot-racing dig
LOSI shocks
Axial, etc., etc.

I started by mounting the shocks in the typical position but found that under hard flex while turning the tires would rub the shocks. So I mounted the shocks to the far inside of the front axle and to the inside of the chassis. This allowed for excellent articulation (easy movement) up front and I could stiff'en the rear more to keep the torque twist down, since the shocks are at thier widest point. The truck runs good. This chassis is awesome in my opinion. I would recommend it to others.

Kdubb- Can you get us a pic of how you have the front shocks mounts up top on the chassis? Thanks!

I ended up going to back to internal springs with mine, couldn't get the skid low enough after bolting up the rock grabbers. Right now I am at 2 3/4", hopefully that will keep the COG low enough, otherwise I'll have to go to a full droop. So far I really like the chassis though, can't even compare it to the stock chassis.

Because of the motor and tranny you can't run the links on the inside?

I actually ran my r2d on my stock chassis and did not like it at all. Its geared way too low, noisy, and not smooth at all. So i went back to the stock axial tranny and i will put a dig on that.
