From what I've heard, the split pack is supposed to provide a better l to r weight balance. i still prefer a normal servo/battery mount like the carbon fiber one I currently use from 3Racing. Ultimately I think it comes down to what type of battery you run since I doubt any lipos will fit on a split pack batery mount.

could you let me know why you are ditching the split packs. I am only a newbie and have just started making my own split packs ,to me they seem to help heaps with lowering my cog and improving my rigs handling so I am curious as to why you want to change.

the only reason to ditch the split pack would be for lipo.... thats what i did. i couldnt find a lipo capacity that i liked to keep it split. more fab work time!

I didnt consider li-pos. i have a rtr and cant afford a decent esc so switching to li-po is the one reason for getting rid of split packs i didnt think of

I've used this one in the past and it worked very well. http://rcpcrawlers.com/product.php?p...&cat=29&page=1
I was able to put a servo and a 1350 mah 3 cell on there with no issues.

When crawling with lipo batteries keep in mind not to dammage the pack. lipos are easily dented and punctured, these types of dammage cause internal shorts which kill the battery. It is easy to cause this type of dammage with the pack on the front axel.

To avoid this issue I have my ESC mounted next to the servo on an offset plate, my battery is mounted on the upper "Y" link of the suspension to keep it out of harms way.
