| B's Comp Rig gets ShaftD'ed
I've upgraded B's Pretty Much Stock Ax-10 to the Next Level. Changed the Stock Chassis out for a New ShaftD.. The ShaftD is designed to reuses all the Stock Stuff but the Shocks. Which you can reuse them. But only if you shorten them 1/2in. But not recommended. The Maxx Shocks are Cheap and easy to get. Plus the work well. I also have 80mm and 90mm Alumn shocks back instock. Which I will be switching these to later down the road. A Buddy of fine made me some sweet Bent Lower links out of SS....These are the same length as stock. 5.5in Eye to eye. I plan on upgrading him to a CC SideW... after X-Mass and better radio Gear. Everything went together in less then an Hour. That counts Shortening the Maxx shocks 3/8in. Didn't have time to test run it and fine tune it, but was able to snap these pic's before I left. I was even able to mount the Side Body post to match the Bodies holes. (Don't like side mounts but ya) The upper link mounts most inner holes are the same as the Stock body mounts on the Ax-10's. Worked out fine. Didn't have to make new holes in the Body... 3in Ground Clearance with Losi Claws. This is just about Max'ed out on Flex. It does about 1/2in Higher. |

Thank guys... I'll make sure he hears it... I've still got to lower it 1/8in or so. I'm also going to 4link the Front end. It still has the Stock 3 link set up. Last edited by run2jeepn; 11-25-2008 at 11:51 PM. |

Looks good JP, i mounted my shocks on the outside of the chassis, dont know how much difference it makes but they are a little more straight that way. My rig seemed to really work alot better this last weekend with the new chassis. |

Just installed the MIP Drive Shafts. Order a 8 cell 2/3A Split pack. I'm going to move the Servo back to the Center and place the batteries on the axles down lower. Then Move the RX to the Rear upper Link mounts. The ESC to the Front upper link mounts. I'll have Pic's and Vid as soon as the Parts come in. Just like to add a little Tech Note: Shocks... The YR 90mm Shocks with Traxxas Rodend on the Cap work as well. (Just like I did with these Maxx Shocks) Or the 100m YR will work too. Last edited by run2jeepn; 11-30-2008 at 06:09 PM. |

Hey there is a new guy over on the midwest rc forum and he lives south of KC. I am going to direct him to this build for insperation for his Axial RTR. Can you tell what you did to shorten the maxx shocks and maybe pics of the rod end mod on the shock cap. Thanks. Randy |

I used Fuel Tubes on the Shafts inside the Shock Bodies under the Piston. And the Traxxas ballend is super easy aswell. I just cut the plastic loop of the Cap. Grinded it down smooth. Flipped it over and removed the rubber bladder. Then you drill a 1/8in hole in the center. Find a Short 3mm Bolt thats low profile. Install the rodend and the rubber baldder and your good to go. I'll try and get a Closer up pic of them tomorrow.

Nice job! I really like the look of that chassis. Lots of adjustability going on aswell. Looks like there was no snags on the build. Any action shots?

No Action shots Yet.. I think the RX went bad. I got the new batteries and Battery mounts in today. I want to get him better electronic's, but I might wait till after X-Mass. (ESC and Radio Gear) | |

Got the new Batteries and Servo mounted. I think it's a good improvement. Moved the RX up front and the ESC on the front upper Links. Everything still fits even with the body slammed. Center Ground clearance is a hair over 3in.. Be close to 3.25in with Panthers...AAAAAHHHHHH Which I order him a set.... |

Rig is looking good. How balanced is it at that height? My junk runs 2.5" belly and is very balanced, but I need more belly to clear the ledges we run on here. I was thinking of going up to 3" but am worried it will loop out to easy on steep climbs.
