No fair! I want a set of those gears too. I think those gears will end up being a "must" for any axial build. Send me a set Bender! |

As promised. Updates Installed the new Futaba S9157. This thing is a MONSTER of a servo. Nice and quiet too. Weight Made a new plate for the top of the axle finally. Old plate: New Battery location: Servo and battery are below the top plate |

Added the winch down suspension front and rear. Main goal was to keep the weight from the system as low as possible and follow the USRCCA rules. Rear servo mounted. I didn't want to sacrifice one of those precious Futaba servos to turn it into a winch servo. The old hitec 5998 worked perfectly. In the following pictures you can also see the winching point on the front and rear axles that the line goes around, these points act as pullies. The front is 2:1 and the rear is a 1:1 ratio. This allows the front to suck down before the rear. Hopefully the pics explain this as well. Here you can see the front pulley running off the 3 link bolt. I used 3/16" brakeline to route the winch cable. |

Incredible work on the winch, any concerns for the backs of both servos? My high steer link and tierod are in roughly the same location on the front, and show uh, a bit of abuse and speed control is on the back, which is protected. But the fact that it is laying on the axle is also extremely good work. Also wondering was size Lipo is that? The whole package is nothing short of awesome. Good luck in all your future comps.

That looks great Brandon! I want to do that on my rig but I'll have to wait until I can pony up for a 4PK. Do you have the dig setup yet?

Yeah the servos might get hit. Driving time will tell. The Chisels are a big tire and do a lot as far as protection goes ;) Maxamps 860mah split pack. Not real happy with them on the Axial, I need something larger. The single motor draws a lot more amps than the dual motors on the berg. Go figure! Quote:

No dig yet Dave. I plan on dominating the next comp without it! | |||

My original inspiration for adding the winch down suspension was due to the crazy side-hills and steep climbs that Nor-Calrcrc always runs at their comps. With the Taller Chisels and my new found appreciation for the axle clearance they give I needed a way to lower the COG. Results: Full ride height: Winched down all the way: Rear (You can see that I left some travel in the shocks) Front: |
