Default rod ends

i just got my ax10 built and there is snow outside so i have been messing around in the house. the lower links keep pulling out of the bent rodends( the rodends that are connected to the axle ). like i will be driving and all the sudden my link is draging on the floor. do they make metal one to prevent this from happening

I use traxxas #1942 for the plastic ends-make sure you pair them up. Two differant sizes. I have a extra threaded ends (steel) installed in the rod ends(plastic) and when I break uscrew out of the aliminum to fix fast. works great. There about $9.00 they come with steel ball studs too. I have no Axial ends on my truck now. Matt

The Traxxas end are the way to go, the stock ones are just a little stronger than jack cheese.

I personally use revo ends tapped to 8/32" but the stock rod ends do work. Be sure to screw the threaded long setscrew into the rod end all the way then into the link. This gives the rod end the greatest chance of holding. I see alot of people still using the stock ends with good results, so they do work.

yeah, same here i pulled apart 3 links yesturday at a local small comp. i didn't have enough threads down into the plastic ends. those little setscrews have allen heads on them, run them deep into the plastic. i don't think you need as many threads into the alum. links. 70% of the threads should prolly be in the plastic end.im sticking with stock ends for now. just going to redo them.

Jato ends are no stronger than Revo ends actually. They just have a longer shank. If you don't make your all thread/set screw long enough to go all the way through the Jato ends, they are actually weaker than Revo's.

Thats the key right there I believe. The Traxxas ends are a good upgrade, don't get me wrong. But,I've got a handfull of Axial rod ends still going strong on both our 2.2's. They've stood up to almost 2 seasons now. I wouldn't discredit the Axial ends, cause they can work well.

As already said, the stock ones are fine. My guess is you heven't threaded them far enough. Use the alen key and wind the studs all the way into the rod ends before installing them onto the links. Before installing them on the balls have a look in the hole of the rod end to see if there is a dimple, or the stud has come right through. If so, just back 'em out a touch, they'll be fine like that.

Cheers.

They should work all the same. I actually prefer to use straight ends. The only time I really use bent or off set rod ends is when I need to try and move the links or linkage just a touch around things in the chassis. I feel the straight ends are stronger.

They have no threads in them when new. You form the thread in them yourself. Either 4mm or 8-32 hardware works good with Revo/Jato ends.
