Default Shock upgrade ?

Hey everyone, I have recently gotten into the crawlers picked up a ax10 rtr. I have been taking little tid bits from this site with great results so far. I want to upgrade the shocks with the stock 3.3 t-maxx units. Due to the info I have read here. But. I also see some comments on length. Any and all suggestions are appreciated. By the way I do have the axial soft (white) springs ordered and have gone through the stock shocks and have fine tuned them.

Tmaxx shocks are great. They are shorter than stock though. I run them on my AX-10 with the Black Widow Chassis. While I was still running the stock chassis, I used the AX-10 shock, limited the travel internally a little, and used the T-Maxx springs with spacers to take up the extra space. The reds in front and the blacks in back were good, but I imagine you could use reds all the way around.

Ya, I have looked at these other shocks but, was hoping to use the t-maxx units to keep price down. It sounds like I would loose travel ? Defenetly looking to optimize travel.

There is such a thing as to much. 45-50 degrees of flex is PLEANTY! Anymore and the rig stands a very good chance at being to loose on sidehills and will flop easier.

Stock, the Axial has to much. Less is better.

Man you bring in all kinds of thoughts, I really appreciate this dialog. As we both know the stock set up on the ax10 is to say the least quite stiff and in my opinion very fast for crawling. Now this comment of yours about to much travel limiting to 45 - 50 Degrees. How are you measuring this ? Are you using a protractor ? I have since purchasing the truck I have installed 30 degree bent controll arms and put in a 55 t integy w/ 14t . I have also took some of my stock t-maxx springs and installed but, I stretched the springs slightly to compensate for hieght issues. I found when in situations when the shock would unload quite a gap would develope. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thank you !

I have been using the red springs with 45wt oil in the stock shocks. So far I am loving it.

Losi shocks all day long!!! THE best smoothest shock on the market. Very well worth the extra coin. I have run many shocks and always seem to end up back on Losi's. I would spend the $$ up front to ensure I have the best, longest lasting most versitle shock available. I mean geez, with losi you have ANY length you want/need. Any Spring rate you could ever wish for. And with the threaded shock bodies you have the most tunable shock on the market. I know some say that the Mount end on the shock head is drawback, but I have to disagree, with the simplistic billet design you get the strongest "cap" on the market. You never have to worry about the cap ever "popping" off.

A very precise measuring device.....my eyeball.

Lift one front tire until a rear tire almost comes off the ground. The angle your front axle is at in relation to the ground, should be ,IMO,roughly 45-50 degrees.
