Here's a google sketch-up visualization of my revisions for this:

I'd like to have a custom skid plate machined, so I am talking to a local machine shop to get a quote. (Delrin of course.)

With holes to mount the trans forward for better weight transfer and when I get my DIG unit eventually, and triangulated lower link mounts, with rock slide channels. (No current skid offers what I want out of this)

btw - the sketch up files were colored by my GF.

Looking good.

Hmmm good and inexpensive.... unless you have a friend who can sneak a one off in a job... nope. :-( "Good" in my experience is alway expensive.

I work at a machine shop.... I am actually in the process of designing a skid plate very very similar to the one I see in your pics, except i think I have alittle more adjustment and more spots to play with for end links ( I love adjustment). check it out

And yea to make 1 skidplate... the delrin is dirt cheap but the time for 1 plate your are probably getting quoted some stupid prices I bet haha... maybe we can combine our ideas and I will make a few up for my friends and send 1 your way aswell =)

My skid plate is longer than the stock axial skid, and my holes would need to line up. I am going to try the first attempt using my hand tools, I probably won't have the grooves along the bottom, or the fillet along the front and rear edges, but it would give me a better idea how it would work.

and the hole pattern on the side is the same as the stock plate it looks right correct? If I end up making one I usually put the holes in for the stock plate and the sw holes aswell

The outermost holes are the only extra from stock, they are 2.875" center to center. I don't know what the dimms are for the SWX though.

I am currently only using this for my own use, but if I get a vendor star, I may end up selling them. If I do, I'll post the appropriate thread. Thanks!

Been awhile since I've updated this...

The current chassis was doing good, but there were some design flaws I overlooked, but I've spent a little time in CAD tweaking it, and here's what I've come up with:

I'll be getting these in the mail soon, so I'll post some pics of the chassis and how it works compared to the first version.

I've been keeping some pics off the forum due to what happened with Tony's SPV2, don't want to give too much away, especially since I am not looking to sell these, I don't want someone else to make money off my design.

I'm trying to think of a name for this chassis, current name for revision 1 is Chameleon because of the changeable rear plates, but since they are gone, I want a name that better represents the new design.

Kicking around a few names, the top choices now are:

Khimera
Karnage
Rock Monkey
Mr. X
3.Four

A few photoshopped "logos"

Now, since these aren't being sold, it may not matter what the name is, but at a comp, rather than just saying it's "my own custom" chassis, I'd like an actual name for it.

Ideas? Opinions?

Khimera is sick man. That logo even looks good. Nice work so far on this project. It's all coming together nicely.
