This is so cool. Go axial! To get an idea of the significance of these lower gear sets check this thread. Why no r&P gearing options from vendors?

I stand corrected. I guess here's another case where 1:1 vehicle practice does not carry over. I know when I put 5.29's in my Samurai, that if I didn't match the front and rear gear sets, I wouldn't have destroyed them.

Doubt it, these have probably been in the R&D stages for quite some time.

FINALLY !!! tell Bender 'job well done'.

can you offer some pinion shims to get a good mesh pattern? Don't laugh, when I installed my HD gears last year, the pinions were barely contacting the ring gears, making for a ton of backlash. I sourced some .5mm washers and shimmed the inner pinion bearing to make the pinion gear mesh better with the ring gear. The only thing I was missing was the set up compound!

I doubt they burned these out in a few days too. I was referring to the value of lower gears in the axle. Not that axial was swayed by the thread. I'm sure there are lots of people wondering why you wouldn't just change your pinion or spur gear

Saw these emailed out on the Media update and all I can say is that Kyosho and Losi better watch out with their worm gear drives... because Axial is back with a MAJOR tech update for all Axial owners.

I am guessing we will be seeing a bunch of people with this at the 2.2 Midwest Indoor Crawler Challenge.

I had a discussion recently with MIP on offering Helix gears sets... guess I can tell them "never mind Axial has it covered".

Good job... now back to work... some solid steel driveshafts and a one piece diff cup/locker out of hardened steel would be nice next parts.... ohhh and a front/rear combo dig setup...ohh... and.... etc.... ;)

Was Brad running the high gear in front and low gear in the back at Lake Wohlford last week end? His truck was running great. I need to decided if I should run the hi-lo setup. Thanks for listening. Matt

you need to reread the second post from axial. Brad is running hi set up front and stock ratio out back. They also stated that you shouldn't run hi in one and low in the other. Its either both hi, both low. or hi up front stock out back, or stock up front and lower out back. Running high up front and low out back is causing binding issues due to the ratio's being so far off form each other. The only problem I am gonna have is diciding what way I want to go. I am running 9.6v with a HHH35t and 86-16 gearing. But do I want to gear the rear axle down and leave the spur pinion the way it is, or do I want to gear the front up and drop down to a lower pinion on the tranny? I might get both and see what I like better. I have an extra rig I could use for testing.
Oh I almost forgot to say thanks and great job Axial Team. You guys really know how to take care of your customers.
