Default HR Dig ... Is it more durable than DNA Dig

Just put in my 2nd set of DNA rebuilt kit ... not keen on ordering a 3rd.

Can anyone advise what is the base material for DNA dig and the HR dig? Is HR more durable?

I think so , I switched to the HR while waiting on parts for my DNA and I`m pretty sure it will stay in the truck . Personaly I like the HR better , fewer parts and steel drive parts . The DNA is nice and alot of people seem to have good luck with it but in my opinion the HR is more reliable and user friendly in the long run .

I cant speak for the DNA myself,But alot of my friends I crawl with have had good luck with it.Allthough one broke the output on the dna shortly after he purchased it. Me on the other hand I have the HR dig and love it. I have beat the hell out of it and it works like the day I bought it. IMHO if your trying to save a little dough for somthing else go with the HR you cant beat it for the price

My HR dig took a little adjusting, but it works great now. The secret for me was to use a full size servo and get the pushrod from the servo to the dig as straight as possible. Now it doesn't bind and engages/disengages without any problems.

I have been using the HR dig for sometime now without any issues. To me it just seems to work alot better than the DNA. However I like the DNA too. I think it has a lot to do with how you set them up.

the HR seems to be pretty stought. I just installed one in my buddies rig for him and it works great. If it were me though I would hold out till DNA gets the steal guts made up and has them to sell. They shouldn't cost any more than HR dig and will make the DNA setup bullet proof.

kiong23, I hope you dont mind if I thread jack a little bit but since youre talking about the HR dig I figured id just post it here.

Has anyone had any problems with it? First it kept slipping into freewheel, but Im almost sure that was because a set screw came loose on the rear axle. Then I was having problems where it wouldn't lock.

Tonight Im gonna look at it and make sure the linkage is set up properly. Most likely its something Ive done wrong, just wanted to see what anyone else has to say.

Mine does not bind. The parts that wear out fast are essentially the rebuilt kit items ... particularly the two metal pieces that engages and disengages. In extreme situation like going through a tight crack in 4WD, negotiating a V valley, the rear slips when i try to push the rig :-(

Normal situations the DNA works fine. Unless it is my setup that the 4WD is not holding up strongly ...

yeah...good luck with the email...and good luck with instructions...best thing is looking around at pictures of others setups...the dig itself is really nice and simplistic...i like the steel drive parts...im working with a modded TQ3 and ive pretty much got it dialed in after about an hour of tweaking...crawling...and tweaking some more...time will tell more...but i like what i see so far

I'm getting really tired of these companies thinking that because we like to tinker with parts and make them fit they don't have to include instructions. There is absolutely no excuse for not including instructions

I to have used both units, currently running the HR and its awesome and real durable doesnt miss a shift! My DNA was rebuilt twice and wore out within four hours total run time. Finally got the DNA tuned in and it works took it out and put the HR back. IMHO the HR is more durable and user friendly.
