Default "hot rod" ax-10

Has anybody had any luck "Hot Rodding" an AX-10? What I mean is durability issues with the trans or the difs when using a low wind or brushless motors and / or 7cell or LiPo batteries? I was just wondering, I have a couple of ideas running around in my head.

From what I've seen the AX10 is a durable vehicle. Being a crawler, you're not going to see issues like you would with a T-Maxx, regarding broken driveshafts due to torque or high rpms.

Adding things like a 55t motor and a different ECS, all starts adding stress on certain parts. Having your slipper clutch properly adjusted helps in keeping a lot of parts from braking, as does knowing when to leave off the throttle and not pushing your vehicle past its limits.

As for "Hot Rod", that's hard to determine considering a rock crawler is based on low speed and torque, not on typical "hot rod" aspects, like high horsepower and speed............

Hotrod? I believe you are referring to a rock racer?

Seen a lot of Cobalt 5T pullers on these rigs, with the "proper" upgrades, you should have no issues. I believe the following would be ideal:
HD Bevel Gears
Axial CVDs
MIP Driveshafts
Axial Slipper
HD Lockers

Other than the above, you might want to "bullet proof" your axles... alum. C hubs, alum. knuckles, alum straight axles etc

Hope this helps...

Hey Guys,Thanks for the input, What I'm thinking is along the lines of a bad a$s rock racer or a Fourmla Offroad Jeep. I've got LOTS of parts lying around and any input is welcomed! I need to post some pics ,but I dont have a decent camera, 'cuz I'm into R/C's

If you are going the hot rod route you may want to leave the front locker out and run it open. You will have better handeling and turning at speed. With the locker it will want to just push the rig straight and not turn. I have seen guys running 7t pullers and snapping front cvd like toothpicks going fast in turns. Just my 2 cents.
