Default Stock Driveshaft fix

I ordered my ax10 RTR late last year, it was stolen from the courier and took awhile to get a second one sent out. I finally got the truck on the friday and broke the driveshaft within 10 minutes.. No LHS no spares and monday is a public holiday in Aus.

My brother plastic welded it for me with with the soldering iron, using a nylon zip tie for *solder*, It broke again in a different spot, fixed it again, broke again in a diff spot, fixed it again...

Anyway I added this zip tie to stop the ears flexing as much and it hasn't broke since. So if your like me and desperate to get back on the rocks you can.

P.S I have ordered some stampede shafts ^_^

I must be lucky ... I have been running the stock drive shafts since 11/08 with out any problems. How did yours break? to much torque? I am using the Novak Rooster ESC and 55T motor, stock spur gear, 14T pinion, and no probs ...yet

just wondering how yours is set up and how they break. Thanks

The first time it broke was straight out of the box, all I had changed was the pinion to the included optional one, I loosened the slipper after that.

Pretty sure its because I have been running it on a pile of wood, easier to get it in a bind.

My first battery pack i broke the pin that the shaft snaps on to.(The u-joint itself) Then i broke the shaft in the same place as yours. I spent $5 on traxxas shafts have not had a problem since sept 08. It never bound up or anything.

Snapped my stock ones within 15 minutes on a Novak 55t motor and XL5 ESC. Then bought new ones and the shaft rings. They held up to the Novak 55t....so I got the Goat and a RC4WD R2D Transmission. That combo SNAPPED them like nothing. So I decided to "go big or go home"...RC4WD Punishers. That was a year ago. I have not broken a shaft since. Although I would recommend hardened gears/pinions as the stockers went bad pretty fast.
