airtronics 97480 $120 423 oz torque
Hobbico C-150 $40 193 oz torque
Hobbico C-170 $80 same as Hitec 559???? something another.
Tower hobbies has them, the hobbico ones are called T-150 and T-170 with the tower hobbies stickers etc.

HiTec HS645MG is a sweet servo, is relatively cheap and has more then enough torque for a 1.9/2.2 wheel/tire combo, especially with DRS on your transmitter.

what im runnin' and love it.

Dont waste your money on a hitec 645 they do not have enough power....The JR 8711 is a great servo and will move your rig before it even thinks of amping out....Put your money into a good servo otherwise you will end up buying two servos in the end...

I can second that, i made the mistake of spending close to $60 on a 5645mg, i stripped 2 sets of gears. I then upgraded to a jr 9100t, and wont go back

Here are the three I'm considering:

Futaba S9157 - 425oz-in @ 6V
Hitec 7950TG - 403oz-in @ 6V
JR DS8711 - 403oz-in @ 6V
Airtronics 94780M MG - 423oz-in @ 6V

The only one I can find in stock anywhere is the DS8711...

They are all $120 - $150 but I figure it will be the last servo I'll need for a while!

X2! It's good for the price and I know hi-tec makes great stuff. Never had a problem with it. I bought a high torque servo that was along the lines of the Hobbico line and it took a dump after few months. To tell you truth it's all in what "you" like. Plus you get what you pay for.

I use the HT 7955 with 333oz at 6V. This is a titanium geared servo. I run this at 7V wired direct to a Castle BEC. I'm not sure how much more torque it has at 7V vs. 6V but I can tell a difference for sure.

If I were in the market for a new servo or a first time servo I would go with the JR. I say this because I was here a year ago and wondering the same. I bought the Hitec 5955 and a year later I am not impressed at all. It stalls out all the time at 6v. In cold it doesn't respond either. Last weekend I bound the rig over a ledge and the thing wouldn't even move. Either it is on the way out and about to give up the ghost or it just can't handle the rig?

Either way, I am gonna go with the JR enxt.
