First I would like to thank you all for this very useful forum. I've gathered a lot of information here, which I find very helpful when deciding what to do with my rig. I am, as you probably understand, new to crawling (but not to rc). I just bought my first rig, an Axial ARTR, and I've allready done som modifications to it: Some of the Stage 2 mods Wheel weights Custom made 4-link rear Softer Springs in front (blue XTM 80mm - added spacer in top of spring) Upper link plate for electronics mount Hitec 645 And for the beauty: Black shrink-tubing on the upper links and steering links to get rid of some of the orange.... I've ordered Castle Sidewinder esc, Integy 55t, 8 cell splitpacks from Tcscrawlers. Later I'll be buying new tires, a stronger servo, Traxxas Big Bores, new driveshafts ... I'm really looking forward to testing this crawler, to bad the community for crawling is small in Norway. Luckily it grows every week I'll post some pictures later.

Welcome aboard ! I have the same issue, I live in belgium where crawlers are rare... Good choice on the ARTR, that's what I run and it's a really good base but a crawler is never really finished. I wish you better luck than me with your TCS order, customs kept mine like 3 weeks in their office.. grrr. Last edited by Kera; 04-15-2009 at 03:55 AM.

I guess the ARTR was a good choice, I bought it du to the rear lock-outs, and heavy duty diff-lockers. I hope customs work well, I'm a registered user, so they usually fix the custom in a couple of days. I also used the express shipment, cant wait to go out and crawl, now that the snow is gone:-P

Yesterday I received my gear from TCScrawlers. It only tokk 6 days from Arizona to Norway, including the customs! Thats so great, no wonder why TCS became vendor of the year 2007!!!! So I soldered up some deans, mounted the motor and esc and hooked up the split-packs. Now it was time for mye first test. It performed great. And the hammers were not half as bad as I expected. No torque-twist (except when backing) so I guess my home-made rear 4-link plate worked really well. Next up is new tires (claws or rovers), new shocks (big bores) and 4 link up front. I'll try to add pictures later.

Your right, this forum is a great place to learn almost everything about crawling. I am still contantly searching the post for new ideas, or how to overcome a problem. Congrats on the Axial, it's always a good choice. | |
