After spending substantial time experimenting with different shock options and set ups, I went back to the always reliable Traxxas Big Bores...they just seem to work regardless of the situation. Shocks, RCP droop springs, fresh rod ends and Traxxas 3x6x2.5 shock re-build spacers for external limiters... Installed some 15mm internal limiters cut from Dubro push rod housing... Ready for oil... Some Losi Grape 100w... A little down time in the OFNA shock rebuild stand; another must have item... Associated shock bushings; no fuel line for this build... Force thread on to the 3x18 mounting screws... Just enough movement to free up the Big Bore caps... Installed on the front shock mount by threading from the inside of the chassis; the rear mounts are external... Mock up with the Eritex Heavies and Panthers... Belly clearance is 2 3/8" which I much prefer over the 3 1/2" that I had with sprung Traxxas GTR's... Electronics mock up next... |

Thanks Genis Substantial progress tonight...we have a comp on Sunday so she's going to be ready. I got into a groove working on the electronics, so not as many pics as I wanted to have, but you'll get the idea. Panels cut from Parma .030 lexan... Pactra rattle cans... Side panels ready to go in the "Axial Spray Booth" ... Warmin' up the paint... Tasty; the pics don't do this paint justice, it's really nice... Needed to shorten up the lead on my 5245MG dig servo to about 5 inches and install a new connector... 7955TG from last years Warthog... Tinned all my leads with the Hakko... CAP installed on the FX-R... Some Parma silicone tape to mount the electronics... Mocked up on the dig servo... Servos, BEC and ESC in; a bit more of a rat's nest than I prefer though... Holmes 1300 3S charging for tomorrow's test run... Just a couple more things to button up... Last edited by CreepyCrawl; 06-27-2009 at 12:21 AM. |

| Makes me want to build one even more. No connection between motor and ESC . Everything fits nice. Good find on the connector pins, I've been looking for a while. Get alot of pics from your upcomming comp. BEST OF LUCK |

Looking good Creepy, can't wait to hear about the shakedown run. Those rear upper side pannels should help hide the electronics too. |

Thanks guys Done, ugly and proud... A quick shakedown in the house tonight and everything seems solid...our comp tomorrow will be the true test. The 45T Epic Kreepy on the Holmes 3S 25C provides some very nice wheel speed, and the Kimbrough spur is substantialy smoother and quieter than the stock Axial puck. The Rocksmith Gear Jelly quiets down the diffs as well, and they're super smooth...I'll be ordering more to have on hand. The Eritex HRD took me all of 5 minutes to set up on my 3R, and it functions flawlessly, requiring much less rig movement than a traditional pressure plate set up. Well done Gerame My travel rates for the HRD are set at 40% for forward engagement and 55% for rearward engagement...and the thing is silly smooth Edit: Specs... Overall Weight: 6.0 lbs WB: 12 1/2" Track Width: 10 1/4" Overall Length: 18.0 tire to tire Overall Height: 6 1/8" Ground Clearance: 2 3/8" I'll have more pics and info after Sundays Comp... Extreme Close-ups....wasn't that a Wayne's World thing? :-P Creepy - sorry in advance for the lame question, but the flat-head conical washers you used on the servo mount, where did you get them? All the ones I carry are larger and intrude on the center plastic reinforcement. Those are nice and small. |

First time out and I took first on round 1, and fourth on round 2 out of 12 drivers. The comp was at our local shop...the layout doesn't look like much but once you throw up some gates (15 today) it's one of the most challenging places that we crawl...it was dope. Nasty course and the Eclipse was very predictable. I'm glad I stuck with what works for me and went with a droop set up, and I'll never run another shock other than the Big Bores. I was considering switching out the stock Traxxas shock ends to HPI Savage shock ends though, to gain a bit more on the belly, but I can't argue with the stability I had, and the East End skid is slick as shit The Eritex dig performed flawlessly and requires much less wheel travel for engagement. This is my first rig with a dig set up and with Panthers, and I'm really happy with both No Comp pics yet, but here's a couple of todays course and the Eclipse post Comp... Updates to come as I get more wheel time, but right now I'm very pleased with this chassis... Last edited by CreepyCrawl; 06-30-2009 at 07:25 PM. | |||
