Wow, that is a great looking rig! Extremely clean

I am especially liking the color, interested to see how it might look with a white backing.

Thank you Harley...I'm humbled to hear that from you.

I wondered about the black backer that Pactra suggests...thought it would dull out the effect, but it still looks good. When it's time for a fresh set of panels, I think I'll try white or silver to pop it a bit more.

Still subscribed and looking forward to seeing the Dixie build completed ;)

Thanks man I appreciate that

Glad you found the thread helpful, and keep us posted on your build as well.

If you're refering to pic number four, that's all camera angle...if you look in the background you can see the boundry flag on the hill. That was actualy just a slightly inclined off camber line and the approach to the next gate put me in the gap.

It unloads very little because of the 100w oil. In some instances, it actually wheels a bit like a torsion rig, which I really like.

Any point that I was 3 wheeling, I could settle it down with a few fast servo twitches.

suspension acts like mine,it would be hard to go back to a full sprung rig
gotta love a droop setup

are you using the Traxxas T-Maxx shocks? are they the same as the Big Bores XXL's

would i need to just buy two of these, versus the T-maxx 8 pack?

very nice! This is a top notch build with excellent pics.

I said oo-la-la when I saw this one.

Are you not worried that motor cleaner maybe a little too harsh on your panthers? I was using simple green for a while. it makes them sticky, but it seems to make the rubber smoother over time. Badd suggested that I use Dawn and so far so good.

Those are the Traxxas XXL Big Bores. When I originaly built my Hustler Super I bought the 8 pack because I knew I'd use the other set for my 2.2 builds.

It's much less expensive than buying pairs at $27.00 per...you're getting another complete set of 4 shocks for $10.00

You'll be thankful in the long run, trust me

Thank you Ashton, much appreciated dude!

I went real easy with the motor spray and applied it to a towel rather than directly to the tires. I think it's the best for removing all the mold release agent. And besides, look how sweet they look in that pic...tasty man, tasty

I actually didn't treat them with Simple Green like I normally would, and they still hooked right out of the gate. I'm a big fan of the Cougars now my friend

Default Update

So a couple of crawling buddies and I set up and demo'd for the third year in a row at a 1:1 crawling comp and truck show that goes down localy every July. This years turn out was a bit lower than usual, but we still had a good draw with interest in what we do.

We hauled in a few ton of stone and crawled all day. The rocks were dusty as all get out, even after a night of rain, but the Panthers still hooked...I was really impressed.

We ran everything hard, and it showed by the end of the day. No substantial carnage to the Eclipse, just a blown Axial CV pin. I'm very impressed with all the components that I chose to run, and the chassis itself is undoubtedly solid and tough.

The Eritex HRD slipped a bit in lock after a couple hours and the servo mount screw did work it's way loose, but I'm chalking that up to the unit simply breaking in. Two clicks on the travel solved the slip, and once I snugged up the servo mount screw, it never moved again.

Even with all the dust and dirt, the dig functioned flawlessly, and didn't collect much internaly, which was an initial concern with the open top design.

I'm very pleased with this set up, and right now it doesn't look like I'll be changing anything.

A few snaps from the day...

How do you think more of a scale 90mm shock would work. Like the RC4WD Dual springs will work? I'm starting my build tonight.

Great looking rig!

Very nice rig.

Any particular reason you coiled the BEC wires, rather than shortening them like you did on the servo?

I've read some good things about the RC4WD 90mm shocks and they do look killer, but I've never had the opportunity to try them out.

exesivefire used some 80/90mm Yeah Racing shocks on his Eclipse...perhaps you could shoot him a PM and ask his opinion on them.

Here's the link to his build post...

Thanks dude...I wasn't sure where I was going to mount the BEC so I left the lead long. Maybe I'll do that though and clean up the wiring a bit more
