The lead from the ESC should be plugged into channel 2 and the servo should plug into channel 1.

The motor wires isnt that big of a deal. You can manualy switch direction if it is going backwards from your transmitter.

If the leads are in the right channels, make sure that the ground wire is on the inside. here is a link to axials esc instructions.

If it was smoked it would smell like it... Disconnect everything and connect the servo plug into channel one. Then connect the esc on channel 2. MAKE SURE that the wire colors from the esc the servo plug are parallel to eachother. This matters a lot. If it doesnt work, flip the Servo plug 180 and connect it back in channel 1. Then flip the esc plug 180 and plug it back in channel 2. It should work man.

dont worry about the Batt. slot. At this moment you dont need it. I see you have two reds, one on each so when you plug everything make sure you connect them parallel. I have to take my son to a firework show so when I get back I'll check on your progress. Am pretty sure you can find some help if you search here. It takes time to search but thats what this forum is here for.
