I have a scorpion rtr crawler now and have been wanting to make a fulltime mud truck out of it. It does ok stock but I need more ground clearance and I hate that it's so narrow and tippy. So I was wondering if a scx10 would make a better mud truck? Is it wider that the scorpion rtr? Is it the same lenght? I don't want something any shorter than what I have now because I will be climbing some hills. Also what is needed to be able to put a set of 2.2 tires and rims on a scx10? And how much ground clearance would it have with a set of 2.2 mud slingers on it, any more than my rtr truck?

The AX and SCX use the same axles, so they will be the same width. The scx actually comes with 1.9's, so its technically smaller unless you swap out to larger tires. You can make any truck longer that you want, you just need to extend the links and get a longer driveshaft and you can increase your length. Overall the SCX might look like a better mud truck, more scale looking, etc, but they would pretty much perform the same with similar modifcations for this type purpose unless your looking for a more scale looking truck that will be mudding. good luck

I think there are alot of factors that play into this. What kind of mud are you mainly in? Sticky soft goopy stuff or the stuff that packs down then stays that way?

Whatever you decided to use, the SCX or the AX I'd say if your not planning on going in deep water, put a 7t puller and a 3 cell lipo and some big tall tires! Let them tires spin up and clean out!
