Default Building a Vanquish AX10

So if I wanted to build a ax10 with all the available vanquish products what is the easiest way to do it? Should you buy the kit or jut buy the tranny, axles, shocks? or what? Thanks a lot

it would be easier to buy it all seperate you will not use most of the parts from the kit

so what is a complete list of parts I would need minus electronics and all the vanquish parts so it will be comp ready? I would like to probly use aftermarket screws if they have them out there.

mcmaster carr for screws. I was just working on my rig, so these came up in my head... could be different sizes for you tho. Vanquish chassis looks like it comes with cross brace/screws, and lower link at chassis hardware.
You'll most likely need these.
M3X25mm(for lower links at axles)
M3 Nylocks/locknuts
M3X14mm(for upper links at chassis)

that's all I got for now, don't think anybody can/will list every single thing you need for your build.

Well if you wanted to go all VP here is what I think you would need.

Vanquish Incision Pro AX-10 Chassis
VP High Steer Steering Knuckles
VP Rear Axle Lockouts
Vanquish Hurtz Shifter 3 Position Dig for Axial AX-10
Vanquish Products R-2 or Revolver DH ProComp 2.2
Aluminum C's from STRC or similar
Axial axles and transmission

haha its no more expensive than any other crawler, and I figure why not build it comp ready right? I will of course practice first since this will be my first real crawler but I have been around it before.

I think you are doing it right. IMO it costs way more to start with a basic truck and upgrade, instead of just buying top notch off the bat. Have you tried sending a PM to one of the VP guys for a little insight into what you might need? As far as axles, I think you should look in the for sale section, and pick up some nice built ones. You should be able to get a pretty bulletproof set for around $100-$150.

I wish I did what you are doing, would of saved me some $.... but then I probably wouldn't have learned as much, and appreciate the outcome/s of minor changes, etc.

as far as upper and lower links: ask VP what lengths they recommend to get a 12.5inch wheelbase(they should know if you are using their chassis+their axle plates)

if you are gonna piece your axles together(and don't know how they go together yet) I would suggest downloading, buying, or copying a axial manual for a visual reference.
axle upgrades: BOTH: felsenfast lockers(the only way to go)
alum. hexes
m4 locknuts(wheel to axle, not an upgrade-noting it)
stock bearings(or cheaper)
FRONT: overdrive r&p
I use stock dogdones/cup(hold up better than cvds)
"c's" axial, rcp, etc.
VP knuckles
BTA if you'd like

REAR: HD r&p or underdrive gears
I use stock straight inner axles(rcp steel ones work)
VP rear "lockouts"
probably missing stuff, maybe i'll add some later.

r&p = ring and pinion gears in the axles

think of it and putting taller or shorter axle gears in a 1:1

overdrive gears

http://www.shop.rpphobby.com/product...productId=1540

underdrive gears

http://www.shop.rpphobby.com/product...productId=1541

stock gearing but heavy duty

http://www.shop.rpphobby.com/product...&productId=575

as far as what you will need

from vp;

incision chassis
link plates front and rear
shock risers
knuckles
rear lockouts

other stuff

axial axles
mip cvd shafts
stainless steel straight shafts
axial transmittion
aluminum axle c's (axial or rcp are the top on the market)
traxxas stampede shaft halves
steel yokes
shocks (new axial's are a great choice)
I perfer mayhem wheels but you can choose what you like
Tires
body
misc hardware (nuts, bolts)
delrin or aluminum for links
link drill bushing for making your links
Link Drill Bushing
traxxas or axial rod ends
3x16mm set screw
body post

yes 12.5" is the maximum legal length for 2.2 comp use yotachump makes a very nice wheelbase jig to help you in making sure your axles end up lined up and square

*****CDW 2.2 Wheelbase Jigs*****

ok what do you guys think he best R&P combos are for all around stuff for awhile? I am just going to ask a few questions at once and write down exactly what I need so I can take it with me when I buy.

it comes down to personal preference

Im personally build an motor on axle (MOA) it eleminates the rollovers cause by the torque twist the shafty rigs have

and just because a product Is top of the line or works good for someone else doesnt make it the right product for you, some guys like a fast rig some like slow and more torque, some like a stiff suspension other like soft, some like taller tires others like shorter!

I would try the stock gears for a while and then determine if you feel the need to have more overdrive or underdrive!!

you wont beable to go out and buy everything on a parts list that one of us on the board make and be happy with it, I could make you a list of exactly everything you need to go buy and that would be a rig set up for my liking not yours, you would then change stuff you the way you like it like longer shocks, different springs, different shock oil, tires, foams, wheel weight, total rig weight, there is to many things to change to make a rig the way you like it and that fits your driving style

we can only help you get a basic rig going the you have to change parts and tune it so that it fits you
