Project lightning the darkside 3 Attachment(s) Project Lightning the Dark Side Well i got tired of my Edge being top heavy and kinda bulky, so i bought an eclipse from a guy on here. my first pics are fitting it all together to see what i gotta do to make it right. |
1 Attachment(s) Now I'm running Integy shocks that were very well setup on my edge, however they're kinda tall on this. So i think im gonna take it all apart and make some new shock mounts. here is a side view, she's sittin at 3.5" on hb rovers and mayhem 7's. |
2 Attachment(s) im gonna tear it all apart and braze on some new mounts. im thinking where the white circles are. (sorry crappy paint skilz) lol that should lower me .5" or so |
I'm also gonna deanodize the orande parts and polish them. adding a lil bling w/the black |
3 Attachment(s) So i tore it all apart and made new mounts on the chassis. then i decided to clean everything up and assemble it so i can wheel it. heres the R2J Kustoms skid mounted to the ax trans with dna dig and 645 mg servo and Mip drivelines. |
1 Attachment(s) then i putthe links and shocks on the axles. the front has stock axial bent links with overdrive gears with strc red 4 link plate. i have a JR 8711 mounted next to a 1500 mah 2s ckrc lipo. the rear is stock gears with ckrc 4 link plate. HB white rovers front &rear. the front has proline 2 stage foams with an added custom foam to help the side walls. mayhem 7's front & rear, fronts have 6oz of lead on them. Integy shocks in droop on all four corners with 80w oil. |
5 Attachment(s) here is the chassis with the trans mounted. then i put the axles under it. now im happy with the stance 2 .75". thats better:mrgreen:. here are the mounts i made 1/2" higher in front 3/8" higher in the rear |
3 Attachment(s) and last here are some flex shots. enough for me. feel free to comment or ask questions |
Good job man, cool pics. I was woundering if the dig hits that lower back left link, at times? I wanna do that to mine. |
its close but doesnt hit. had to turn the screw around but thats it. it works awesome. only got to run it for 2 battery packs, then stripped my tcase gears. |
I'm gonna have to build a new tuber. BTW, how many of you damn nightcrawlers are in wheatland anyhow? |
That sucks man, thanks for that writeup |
me and 2 others. im one of the founding fathers the original 7. there's 25 of us now. too many. lol. thanks for the "thumbsup" cornsnake how you like the cougars. i want a differnt tire for sandstone/slickrock |
well, i put the aluminum gears in the trans with good marine grease. Then i put the vf back together with steel gears and a healthy slick of marine grease. Then programed my new DX3R to my eclipse with endpoints for the vf.......... WOW is all i can say. finally got what ive been chasing. The dx3r is worth the money for sure. now what to do for more torque. hmm . maybe 3s  |
I like em alot, i wanna test some lepopards though, right now im usin some badlands on tha eclipse, somthin about em. :D http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q...FILE0113-1.jpg |
ya the lepoards look pretty kool. if i find a set of cheap alu beadlocks ill prolly get something else for tires. |
