| ax10 scorpion striped screw head ?
My problem is that I was trying to install the heavy duty locker on my rtr and in doing so I found that the M2 x 10mm screws head was striped on all four screws holding the 38 tooth bevel gear on . I wan't to lock my front diff but need some help on how to get the screws out without damaging them more . Any help would be great . It's no fun trying to crawl with a unlocked diff on the front . Thanx

try drilling the heads off and get new screws just use a bit that is a little bigger than the screw shaft diameter.

Thats one idea I had thought of but then i realized that if i do that how will i get a grip of the screw head , the head of the screw is set into the bevel gear like a set screw.????

IF someone has the parts book/ manual for the ax10 1/10 scorpion rtr , on page 9 section 2 you can see what Im talking about . Parts # AXA015 is what is striped on the inside where the hex wrench should go in to loosen the screw.

Being that they are the tiny screws on the diff, a small pair of needle nose vise grips might work. |

If you have a dremel and thin cut-off wheels, all you need to do is cut a slot in the cap screw for a small flat head to remove it.

I have a pair of those but they wont work ,there is no way to get a grip on the 10mm cap head screws . The screws as I mentioned on my last post are flush with the bevel gear on the front diff. I wish I had a picture to show what I mean but my Cam is down right now .

usually when you drill the head off there is enough left to get ahold of and most of the time you can use your finger because the stress from the heads is removed I do it all the time at work.but the dremel should work also

Its kind of strange that all four heads were stripped. You might want to check your allen wrench. If you are using a standard allen key and not a driver the tip of your allen key is probably worn out. Try cutting off the end a little and see if it works. Of course try it on your beadlock screws or something first to check it to see if it is worn out.

you can try tapping the heads of the screws with a hammer to shock them loose a little
