Default Behind the Axle Steering

Behind the Axle Steering - AX30533
Is any one running this in there Axial Scorpion rig? ARTR.
How is the factory Axial set up of the Behind the Axle Steering?
Is it complete? Do i have to buy other parts or mess around in any way? Eg. move shocks or trim stuff.

Pros and cons.

I want to run this set up because i crawl mostly in river rock situations.
smaller rocks that fit between the front wheels.
It just makes cents to move these parts out of harms way.

If i do use this kit it will allow me to use the stock parts from up front for a different part of the project.

No wasted parts. sort of.

The kit from axial should be a bolt up and go system.

You will have to "mess around" a little with the axial BTA kit. Simple things such as flip the front knuckles around so thatthe linkage will mount BTA. Also, I'm not 100% sure about this, but you may have to trim the outermost hole on the knuckle arm to gain clearnace and thus more turning angle. That being siad, an upgrade to axials cvfd"s #AX30464 will probably be a good idea since you'll already have the knuckle off.

well here is what i know so far, without modding you have to use a 3 link up front, it is direct bolt on for a stock truck, as far as i know its not out yet, i preordered one myself

hope that helped

my ckrc bta and knuckles will go to the scrap aluminium pile where they belong as soon as the axial kit comes out, it's worth waiting for and should be out any day now.

It's not out yet. I've seen a late November release. It should bolt right up, but as said you will have to use the 3-link as it sits. I'm sure a 4-link can be modded up, but will have to wait till it's released. I'm waiting to buy this kit, along with the Axial CVA's to get the best steering set-up. I'm not a big fan of all the cobbled together shit in the RC Crawler industry, so it's good to see quality products released that weren't made in some guys garage with a hacksaw.

the knuckles are made from a cheap soft aluminium, mine are shot. the link bar gets sloppy from wearing on the threads of the screws, and if you don't make the link hit something to stop the steering you'll pop cvd's fast (like by gate 3). axial fixed those issue's and has better knuckles.

I've been running the bta from RPP for a few weeks now and its well worth the $18. There are a couple things I'd change, but they aren't major.

And you can run 4 link.

Isn't that what epa's are for?

in a bind or with the ten degrees of slop you get after running for awhile it'll go past the epa's.

Your servo and steering knuckles/cvd's will last longer if there is a physical stop, that way any extra force (fall, running into a rock, etc) wont force your knuckles past their limits.

Is it just me, or does the linkage with the Axial BTA look like it is plastic?

EDIT: Just saw that is lists as All 6061 aluminum construction for durability and rigidity. never mind.

Duuuuuuuuuuuude,

Does it just use tall spacers on the stock arms to raise the linkage above the pinion in the rear? Do you notice any flex of the stock arm from the increased leverage of the spacers?

.
