| lots of slop in my knuckles
just something thats been getting on my nerves. what can i do to eliminate the slop. in the picture i'm showing the play that it has. the play is coming from the stub shaft, bearings, knuckles. the parts are new axial universals with CKRC high steer knuckles. bearings aren't very old either |

How are the bushings in the king pin? Are the axle c's plastic?

the bushings and axles C's are stock right now. parts are in the mail. none of the slop is coming from that though. it seems like the stub on the axle is a fraction smaller than the ID of the bearings and its coming from there |

| yes, the axial cvd's are a little loose in the bearing, MIP's are tighter but break easier.

Mine has slop with alum c's and knuckles with stock drive cups..Mine looks to just be tolerances around screws and knuckles to c's.Allows for smooth steering but i think to lose as its allowing my wheels to move too much thus easier tipping when sidehilling...Wish was tighter fit myself..Mayplay with heatshrink to create shoulder on screw maybe...And take closer look at what else moves!!

saw those and they do look like nice pieces but they seem a little pricey. 75€ EURO + shipping shipping worldwide is 10€ EURO you will need new outer bearings 8x12 or 8x14 |

i tried shimming with a small washer but the less slop i got the more it interfered with the bearing.

Your C hub screws tight? My SCX-10 gets a degree or two of camber from those screws coming loose. |

yeah. i think when my aluminum C's get here i'm going to put one wrap around the axles with that HVAC foil tape stuff to fill the gap in the bearings.

well it was driving me crazy so i went ahead and pulled one side apart. put 1 wrap of blue masking tape (all i have right now) around the outer part of the axle where the bearings are inside of the knuckle. zero slop now |

I have the same issue with my Axial CVs. I shimmed the knuckle bearing with one Traxxas teflon washer and it took out a bit, but I still have some camber. I believe that it's due to the aluminum sleeve that retains the pin. If it were a set screw set up, I think there would be far less play in them. |

| not a problem. i take pictures of everything. the blue masking tape is temporary. it was extremely hard to get the bearings over it and i'm not sure how long it would last. i think it is just a poor fit between the axle and the bearings |

That could be...mine definately have some play within the sleeve though. I'll check my bearing/stub fit as well |

i've been having issue's with my ckrc knuckle's (go figure) the bearings won't seat fully anymore and mip cvd's are such a tight fit anyways that you can't fit the pin in em and if you do get it in and put the hex on the axle won't turn from the pressure. i can throw an axial cvd in and it's still sloppy.

My stub axles were loose when new, caused by a little end float, not by a bad bearing fit on the axle. A thin shim under the hex provided a little preload on the bearings and made things much better. I wonder if you have inadvertantly preloaded the bearings by adding the tape? Too much preload is not good, of course. Cheers. |

| sooo much tighter!!! but it does put more stress on the inner c's! absolutly 100% improvment though! |
