Default Another new guy to the world of crawling.

Hey guys. I just bought my first crawler. got an AX10 scorpion kit (the green truck) on its way. just got a few questions.

I am going to replace the stock shocks and have been looking at the Gmades. Are the G-Transition or the Team Zero ones better? i see there the same price. what length are people running? 94mm, 104mm, or 124mm? or should i go the losi's?

Also, i see some guys are running 3 cell lipo with a low turn (7 or puller motor? this seems crazy. i thought the idea was to go slow and have torque.

Anyway, heres some stuff i want to do. let me know if i'm headed the right way.

AX10 Scorpion
-3racing carbon servo/battery tray above axle
-intellect 4 cell 2S2P lipo (makes it a smaller 7.4v battery)
-replace the stock shocks with gmade or losi ones
-get some losi rock claws to try
-cut the foams into stars and add wheel weights
-move the arm links onto the inside of the chassis as per "tech thread"
-Tekin 55t motor and ESC combo
-make triangle plates to mount esc and receiver on links
-mirror image tranny
-some other stuff from this thread (including countersunk screws)

what else should i do? Are the DIG units worth the money? what do they actually do? from what i see you disconnect the rear steering so you can turn sharper is this correct?

Anyway, HI everyone and i look forward to getting crawling soon.

thanks
Alex

the puller motors such as the 7 and 10 turn arnt your "standard" motor they run 7 armitures instead of the starndard 3, im not motor expect so i cant explain it all, but doin this allows the motor to have incedible wheel speed yet still make more then enough torque to snap parts if you decide that throttleing out of a tight bind is a good idea. any thing made by Holmshobbies is top of the line and worth the money. how ever the motors are longer then a standar 540, so if space in the length department is an issue look into somthing else.

if u ran a 7 or 10 turn motor with the standard 3 arm armiture you would loose a ton for torque and wouldnt be driving a cralwer at all

AX10 Scorpion
-3racing carbon servo/battery tray above axle - good idea batter on the axle =
-intellect 4 cell 2S2P lipo (makes it a smaller 7.4v battery) - go 3s if ur getting tekin fxr
-replace the stock shocks with gmade or losi ones - havnt heard much about them,
-get some losi rock claws to try - tires on one of the best upgrades,
-cut the foams into stars and add wheel weights - weights yes, cut foams no!! and drill vent holes in rims
-move the arm links onto the inside of the chassis as per "tech thread" -
-Tekin 55t motor and ESC combo - yes! but spend the coin now and go with 35t pro combo, the hand would motor is so much better
-make triangle plates to mount esc and receiver on links- low COG is key
-mirror image tranny - simpe and free

yes dig is worth it and key if u want to compete. how ever its not rear steer that it dissconects (rear steer isnt legal in comp) what it does is discontect the rear drive shaft and lock the rear wheel from turning, the leaves the front free to spin and pull the front of the rig left or right to make basically 360* turns on the spot,
