It just looks wrong. Really wrong. I kinda like it, but it's more like a train wreck. You just don't know how everything ended up where it is. How's the CG? Gotta be excellent if it's not floppin' around on itself. |

Well I just found out that Active hobby is selling it now. $388.25 shipped to the USA airmail. Still hard to converse with them as i am trying to understand the build plans I have. Im jealous though. You paid nothing but time and effort. that is a very good deal. After I get some time to work on mine Ill post a thread on it. But until then i am enjoying yours! |

nice job, i do alot of 1:1 wheelin and alot of the new suspension systems we use in large vehicles were at one point an experiment....there are many types/styles of suspensions out there still to be tried and it is good to see companies and even individuals like yourself trying new things. i would love to see a video or two of how it crawls.....keep working the bugs out of it and enjoy.

Time for todays update! I was nearby my fave crawling spot so I thought I'd stop by. It was under water. Plan B forced me to wait a few more hours untill I was closer to home and closer to my other fave spot, which was only half under water. First thing: I tried, really really hard, to get it hung up on either the chassis or the skid. I aimed for every bump and nub and jutting rock I came across. Amazingly it only got hooked on the really sharp/tall ones! And most were those that would hook my other rigs, so having a concern about it hanging up on every little thing is pretty much a non issue. For the things it did hook on, a different skid with a bit more kick-up in the front would probably solve it. Second thing: It still sucks at breakovers. If you can hit it hard enough to get the motor/trans far enough over to transfer the weight forward, you'll make it...but a slow climb will see you upside down. Third thing: Its verticle ability is not quite where I'd like to see it yet. Running on a big rock with a slight crown on its face would put the skid on the rock and you'd lose some much needed weight on the front axle for traction. I'm thinking either more weight up front or just a tad bit more CG would help. It also still has some tendency to TT and send the left rear down. More on that later... Fourth thing: I'm not quite sure why just yet, but it'll cruise gaps like they weren't even there. I've got one line that has a particularly nasty gap and super high traction. If you don't get it right you end up all bound up at the bottom. In my comp rig I have to slowly nose up to the edge and hammer the throttle to get the front axle hopped across. This thing floated right over like it was nothing. Crazy. Fifth thing: Back to the TT and the bottom falling out while verting...I got to looking at the pics I had and noticed that the pivot arm I made is either way short or in the wrong position, meaning too low in the chassis. I'm sure this has a huge effect on the way it handles. Holding the rig so the skid is on the ground, I can lift the rear axle and put an inch or two of daylight under the rear tires. Probably not a good thing. Sixth thing: So far its been really responsive to tuning. All the tweaking I've been doing just makes it work better, so I'm still motivated to keep at it. What I'm aiming for tonight: ~ Losi shocks up front, inboarded if possible to regain some room for steering. ~ Reposition the rear shock pivot arm thingy higher up in the chassis ~ Try to squeak out another 1/2" GC under the skid ~ Lots of Loc-tite. It nearly fell apart today while testing. ~ Reposition the front uppers to lose some caster Last edited by Duuuuuuuude; 12-01-2009 at 03:54 PM. |

could you set up a 3rd servo as a suspension winch? that could like, pull the axels togeather giving you GC and breakover when needed? What that thing really needs, ill telly you, are gold dayton spokes and lil teeeny weeny tires. |

| It's been sitting on the shelf. I haven't had much time or interest to mess with it, and the chassis is starting to pull itself apart (cutting board only lasts so long). If I get reinspired I'll cut a new chassis out of aluminum and give it another go. I suppose I could...it wouldn't be that hard to do. |
