Default Ok I added my new shocks and some weight! PICS added as requested

Well i got max big bores like alot of folks sugested but while i was in a hurry I didnt realize they were quite a bit shorter wich is fine. It lowered the ride a bit bit. My question is though, Is there a chassis I can get that will allow me to use these shocks but maybe get a bit more clearance.

Also when I pull up to like a wall the thing looks like it is going to twist in to. Could this be the shocks.

I also added 9oz of #7 bird shot in each tire. Im a newb to crawlers so suggestions is appreciated.

Yes. It always keeps the wieght at the low end just like a real crawler. Keeps the tires forced to the ground. I seen this on spped tv when the did a crawler segmant.

Sounds like you are having some tourqe twst issues. Bassically what is happening, and someone please correct me if I am wrong, There is so much torque produced by the tranny that it "twists" your chassis raising the right front wheel off of the ground. There are several ways ot counter this, all of which can be found by searching.

Try doing a search on the axial forum w/ the following terms;

Torque twist
4 link suspension
mirrored tranny
shock oil weight
squat/anit squat.

I would hate to deprive you of the joy that can be had in self discovery, but please post your questions as you have them.

As far as a chassis goes, the SWX chassis works well for shorter shocks, it is one that I just recently purchased, and though it is not fully set up I do notice a difference in performance.

Good luck!

Ashton

I have my tranny mirrored and I know what torque twist is. I really didnt explain it good enough. I just didnt notice it that bad until I put the big bores on. It mainly only happens when you pull up to a wall. I dont need to climb walls anyhow, lol. I put the shock rods out of my stock shocks into my big bores a minute ago and gained .25" so that was a little bit I was wanting. I dont know maybe I just like workin on it more than driving it,lol.

No Im running just bird shot. The bird shot is unlike solid weights. It always stay low and and just presses on the tire and if you were in a spot the tire gives hard the bird shot gives also. (it dont bottom out i guess you could say). Ill try to post some pics today.

If you want some more clearance, drill some new holes in the chassis to mount the shocks lower. Doesn't look that bad to me though...

do you have foams in your tires?

did you drill holes to relieve the pressure?

Forgot you were running bird shot...

Anyways, don't worry about a chassis just yet, there are plenty of other things you need to put on your list.

Read around, do some searches, learn about what you need to do before running out and buying up a bunch of stuff.
