| Clicking noise in trans.
The transmission in my sons AX10 is making a clicking noise, what could it be? It is working fine other than the click.

take it apart and have a look. that will be your best bet, hard to say without being able to look at it. if your still stumped, a picture of the innards might be helpful. before you dive in though, check to see if its the pinion set screw hitting the spur on rotation, save a little time if this is the case. |

I have the same problem but I have found out on mine if I lossen the bolts into the motor plate it goes away but it as the medal gears in it because the guy I got it from little cosin just kept going in a circle and fried the plastic gears so I think the case may be warped a little bit

Well, I took trans out with motor still hooked up and the top shaft seemed like it moved in and out alot so I give the slipper about a 1/8 turn and clicking stopped. I took it apart anyway and all the bearings and gears looked good. So I put some grease on the gears and its back together again and no clicking.

take the slipper right off and lock it down. and you will never have that problem ever again.

In a late night hurry I did not have the parts needed to properly remove the slipper. I took off the back plate of the slipper (the trans part) and drilled a hole in the backside. I then used a slightly longer 2 mill screw and now no slipper. You might want to check the spur while you are at it. |

To fix this, loosen the pinion set screw and move the pinion closer to the motor so it doesn't rub against the spur. | |

+1 on the pinion set screw, also check spur for little stuff stuck in the teeth.
