Fully loaded it comes in at 6.4lbs. I might need to put the wheels on a diet...there's alot of lead in there.

I see where you came up with the overall heght and width of the chassis. But how do you determine the height of the front and rear shock mounts? Is there a general rule of thumb? In other words, how did you come up with the distance between the horizontal line made by the skid plate and the horizontal line made by the top of the shocks?

Typically I refer to the stock chassis as a starting point, though you have to take into consideration what shocks you want to use and how you are going to use them (droop, sprung, etc). Sometimes I just lay out some holes and go for it.

BTW: height, width, and lenth are determined by comp rules. It must be a minimum of 3" wide, 8" long, and 3.75" high.

I would have never thought that was hand built.

Actually I'm all out at the moment.

I may not always keep it on the shelf. I've got a VXL motor laying around that needs a home.

His was built with simple tools:

scroll saw
files
drill and drill bits of various sizes
sharpie marker
paper to draw it on
and the various aluminum, delrin (skid),and screws

this is pure rock jewerly. i love the look of the polished aluminum chassis, the 3d look the bends give it, just beautiful. do you think a design similar would work if it were made out of delrin? sadly it would be no where near as sexy, but it might be a little more practical as a comp rig. i have an moa losi that just might need a new chassis. thanks for the insight and the ideas.
