| King of the Hammer Rapid Prototype
At school I am designing a chassis for the AX10. This will not be a TVP but rather a "printed" 3d design. I got the go ahead to use the additive manufacturing printer to make the design. Anything that fits in a 8x8x8 block can be made so I might throw in some scale bumpers and a light/luggage rack. My plan is basically to take the AX10 design and make it more speed friendly. Like a Baja truck with the ability to rock crawl, you might say a King of the Hammers scaler. The wife really likes the baja bug look so the body will be a heavily trimmed oval window bug. My quest is for any CAD files that have the axles fleshed out up so I can check for clearance during articulation and concentrate on the chassis. BTW I am using Inventor for the design, since that is the software I am "learning" this semester. Any ideas comments are welcome. I am pretty excited about the build. |

hmm, maybe you should consider this more of an SCX type build? And you might want to try PM'ing some of the guys on here who have CAD access for those axles. you probably have to pay a penny or two for their time but it doesn't hurt to ask. Harley seems to have the most toys and free time for that kind of stuff... |

A lot of people put the KotH builds on a SCX frame but most of those trucks are built from custom made tube frames. I would say a KotH truck needs to be entirely tube built and not an add on to a SCX frame, although both still look awesome.

You could also ask in the 3D modeling thread in "Tools and Procedures".....although most members are pretty tight about sharing models: 3D modeling/rendering software |

HHHmmmmm... so maybe I should be a bit secretive about my own design. This is going straight from a AX10 to a tube and plate style chassis total 3d that I could hope to make 1:1. I can just use rough measurements for the axles, but thought I would give it a shot. I have the design on paper and ready for sketches on Inventor. Just need to resolve some forces and check some shock angles. Can't wait to see how this rapid prototype thing goes. But I will keep everyone posted. I will check out those threads thanks for for posting. |
