Default traxxas rod ends

Picked up some 1/4" aluminum rod to make new upper links out of, and need to know what size threaded rod I should use for Traxxas rod ends?

Did a search, but didn't find much

8-32 all thread fits the revo ends with no modification, 10-24 fits, but you have to drill the ends out a bit.

Use a cordless drill that way you can feel the bit bottom out in the rod end. It dosn't take much, I built all my links ate the kitchen table.....watching Roadhouse.

Gotcha

Stupid question of the day:
for 8-32 all-thread, what drill bit size should I go with?

I have a drill & tap chart, but it doesn't go that low/small

Last edited by wminmi; 03-16-2010 at 06:35 PM. Reason: messed up on the size

I use a .128 bit, keep in mind this is the chinese harbor fright bit so its probably just close. I also use 8/32 set screws 3/4 inch long, I think they work better than thread all and have a allen head at the end to drive them in. I pick them up for about 25 cents each.

The correct tap drill for an 8-32 thread is #29 (.136") for a standard 75% thread. If your drilling by hand you will egg the hole out some so you can use a smaller #30 drill.

I use revo rod ends and 8-32 all thread, I just run a tap into them some before I put the all thread to them, no need to pre drill

I use 4mm set screws/all-thread on revo/jato ends and 3mm on smaller traxxas ends. That's what traxxas uses on them.
