what do you want to do? look real and have fun or have something that is more capable and is more towards competing that is also a ton of fun?

if thats what you want to do is make your crawler a scaler than yes.

basically the same truck. just different frames and suspension.

quality of the two trucks is the same, but with the scx10 having 1.9 tires than chance of breaking parts is less than the ax10. Main difference is one if for competitions and the scx10 is for scale. I've had both and to comp, you will have to sink a bunch of money into the ax10, but just for some trail riding the scx10 is good out of the box.

It's not really a "versus" type of comparison....they are similar in many ways, but two very different trucks.

Love the part.....SCX-10 can do 90% of everything the AX-10 can do with the right driver and setup. Yeah, whatever.

Yeah that guy is an idiot, it's really personal opinion like everybody else says, rock racing like we do at my house on a concrete course on occasion is pretty fun though because they have 27t (speed lol) and I swap over my 2.2's onto their vehicles and they beat me by a couple of seconds but not for long I ordered a warrior r/t 35t motor for my ax10 we'll see how that does. They can't crawl up vertical like the ax10 though so it's up to the buyer (see video on youtube lol)...it's only money! Buy both!

I've got a new AX10 and after watching the youtube it kinda sway me over to the SCX10 scale truck look.

However I am having some fun working on my AX10 to make it run like a scaled truck and elbow greases are hard to come by nowadays - you don't simply buy it from the stores

Anyway, I had removed all 4 shock springs from my AX10 and left it to work as a droop suspension rig. ( also to make look more scalish without the tall wheelarch gap )

I got a HPI D90 Defender body over it, but due to poor planning during experimental stage of conversion, I made 5-holes-too-many for the body mounts ( mistakes ) and it looked like it was shot by a shotgun from the sides.

Now my rig is probably 3/4 close to what I wanted to achieve but I'd want to limit the axel travel to prevent too much articulation and that cause the tyres to rub badly on the polycarbonate body shell.

Here is my take for AX10 owners - you can make AX10 into a scale rig 100% of the time ( so that it doesn't crawl that well anymore ) but you can't make a SCX10 into a crawler. It was "proven" by the youtube author that it can only achieve a 80% success rate.

WTF! I want 4 mins and 48 seconds of my life back. How can you compare a scale platform to a comp platform? SCX is a great scale base starter and the AX is a great comp base starter, no comparisons! Sorry to be so rude, but that was really stupid IMO.

I don't think the SCX is nearly as capable as an AX-10.... but the looks of it make up for the lost performance. The AX-10 needs some tweeking out of the box to be a nice crawler... I would say that a modded SCX against a stock AX would be the result of 90% capable of going where the ax does...

your comparing apples to corn!
one has 2.2s the other 1.9s its obvis that a 2.2 will go more places, while a 1.9 looks much more scale with most 1/10th scale bodys
one is a comp rig ,one is a scale rig!

honestly i love both of them! but YOU have to decide what you want! do you want to comp and stay strictly to crawling? then get the AX-10, want to run on some trails, bash, play in the mud, and do some crawling? then then get the SCX-10.

not saying you cant bash and mud an AX

True, but you gotta admit, the scx10 is a better scale rig than the ax10 is a comp rig.
