so right now the lowers went to the paint booth (I thinking yellow), The side and top panels will be carbon fiber so I wanted the yellow to make it stand out.

wow i am gelous!! i will be watching

DickyT 07-15-2010 02:05 PM

Glad to see people receiving them already "thumbsup" You should love it once you get it together and tuned. Every time I drive mine I am amazed that an AX10 is doing the stuff I do with it

Glad you got it!

I've been getting quite a few requests for different colored lowers. To keep the price down, the lowers have been getting powder coated in batches instead of individually like the F-4/FF-4. If I can get inventories up, I might be able to offer different colors, but that will probably be awhile, and limited to just 3 or 4 colors.

I was thinking of powder coating a set of yellow lowers for myself...damn copy cat:flipoff:

I noticed there aren't any chassis brace's on the lowers Richard did you put some on the lower half? The paint is almost done on the lowers it looks pretty good. I'll post more pic's after tomorrow. also received 5/16 delrin today for the brace's, carbon fiber is on it's way.

I'm jealous, let us know how it works. I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on one, but gotta convince the wife that I can't live without it- so it might be a while.

NICE! I anxiously await to see how all of these start to pop up and create a new family of AX10s.

Will follow this one for sure.

Well I got the lowers painted today the uppers put together,I think I have the lower links made just right 5 1/8" rear links and front 4 1/4". I'm going to make the uppers the same lenght on the rear to see how it works.
Like I said before I received the 5/16's delrin today and will be making upper links out of that stuff. Still waiting for my carbon fiber sheet to get here.
Here's a picture of the painted lowers and chassis put together.

Looks good! Curious...are you going to brace between the yellow uprights? Kind of looks like a football field.

"thumbsup"

rockerrc 07-15-2010 10:28 PM

Yes I think I going to make some out of 5/16 delrin that I have

KC_JoNeS 07-15-2010 10:32 PM

you might have to name this thing bumble bee. I am loving the color scheme.
Especially with the CF panels.

Ok this morning I was able to mount the front axle on and the rear axle is on but still have to build the uppers for the rear I'll get measurement of the front links next post! here's some more pic's it's 12.5 inches wheel base.

Not sure if I'm keeping the bent links just yet if so I may bend the fronts too still on the fence about that. On another note it's a tight fit in the chassis area.

DickyT 07-16-2010 08:25 AM

Rig looks great, the yellow looks fantastic! "thumbsup" There is more room in this chassis that the FF-4, In comparison I felt like I was working inside the titantic (unnamed bodiless) vs a dinghy (ff4) :lmao:It is certainly tight but not as much as it's bodied brother.

Your front axles is clocked quite a bit by the upper links, what does your caster look like?

C*H*U*D 07-16-2010 09:12 AM

Are you planning on running a dig on this?

RickM 07-16-2010 09:27 AM

All this is just killing me. I just got my ff4 right where I wanted it with a bug body and all. Now all of this has me itching to pull the trigger and get a new build going! I know a bodiless chassis is in the future for me but I was hoping it would be a while. Now I am struggling.

That's what I was thinking. You might find you have more room that way as well since it will put your transmission towards the front...I think there is more room that way.

I also dig that yellow "thumbsup"
