Long slow crawl to Nat's

I got a AX-10 ARTR for X-Mas 2 years ago. Ive put a good bit into it and have done purrty well. Even with most of my club mates going MOA. I placed 10th out of 71 @ MotorRama only 9 below Del Monte and 7 below Gatekeeper. The only Axial even in the top ten. So even thu Ive sent more time with my Scaler then Comp rig these last 5 months I'm giving Nat's a shot this year.
This thread will be a quick recap of the last two years and what I will do to get ready for Nat's. Any feedback, Help or Hints will be taken and appreciated.

First aftermarket body and tires.

I'm not looking to make big changes to him but, I do want more break over and, Steering.

Setting on all four

As you can see in the steering pic's one tire is turned harder then the other. Is this what the VP 0 Ack knuckles fix?

Hard right

Hard left

Yes, the zero ackermann knuckles will keep both tires parallel at any point in the turn. On the other hand, you can just BTA your current setup, and you would have proper ackermann angle, which means that your inside tire would turn sharper than your outside tire.

the vp knuckles will fix the akerman.
i am gonna have to steal your idea with bending the front battery/4 link/ servo plate down like that, my servo and battery gets hit by the tires at full turn so i think that would help.

Congrats on the 10th place finish"thumbsup"

Yeah if you want to keep your steering setup basically unchanged (sero positioning wise) go with teh vp zero ackerman knucks. Unfortunately, with your current shock positioning, you wo't get much more steering angle. To truly take advantage of your super 300's and the VP knuckles, you have to get creative with your shock and link positions up fronrt. You should take a look at Gunnar's narrow FF-4 build for some inspiration for maximizing your steering throw.

And try the OD gears up front with the UD gears in the rear, that will help with non dig turning too.

What Locker are you using with the 300's?

Thanks I kind of thought that but, Now just to be sure will they both end up being the same as the tire that's turned tighter?

Thanks. Axial say the OD & UD can not be used together. I have the OD in the front as is.

And yes as Fire Kid said it comes with the SUPER 300's

thomas 08-11-2010 01:54 PM

yes both of the wheels will turn as tight as the one turning tighter, also you can set the epa's of your radio to steer sharper.
od and ud are only bad when you are reversing, i use both and have good success with it.

What is that hotrod body you have on there? It looks awesome, and would be a nice alternative to the usual bug body. Thanks.

Cool Thanks man"thumbsup" I do have the EPA's maxed out at 150 on my DX3r. Now I just need to make sure the VP's will fit over RCP's clockable C's then it's ordering time.

Well when I first stared I thought that 3 link would have more flex. Now I know that to not be exactly true but, It works for me so I just left it.

Well my VP's came in and I'm not sure about this. I need to get his front end wider.

As you can see now both tires point the same way and there is a little more then before.
