Rocky666's FF-4/Fastback "Hybrid"

Wanted a Fastback but had a FF-4. Talked to Juan at Underground Crawlers and he sent me Fastback tops. This is how billj and I did it.

Started with bare chassis for prototype

First we bolted the chassis together to drill fastback mount holes

Cut front shock mounts off chassis

Mock Up Chassis

Then we cut the blue FF-4 chassis I got from DickyT

Rear Chassis and Fastback plates sandwiched with the shock bolts and spacer

Had to build ESC plate for top of tranny (Roosters to big for front links)

Front and Rear Shock placement

The rest is just basic FF-4/Fastback assembly

cliffhanger007 08-28-2010 02:16 PM

looks great"thumbsup"
from my observation i can see that there is no nessesity to cut the chassis at all u just drill hole into chassis to hold the delrin top in place and you should be good to go 8)
I'm sure Juan will perfect the conversion in comming days.

Mmine FF-4 is on the way and next year i'll be looking into conversion as well, who know maybe even sooner.Cheers just mine 0.13 cents

Rocky666 08-28-2010 03:05 PM

Thanks. It would work if you didnt cut the chassis, but it is easier to inboard the shocks if you cut it. Good luck with your conversion if you decide to do it. The FF-4 is a great chassis with or without the fastback.

Great job! A lot of people have asked if this could be done, and obviously it can "thumbsup"

Rocky666 08-28-2010 04:05 PM

Thanks, it came out better than I thought it would. Thanks again for the parts, i really appreciate it. I never thought i would make a prototype for something like this. Its a real privelage and I cant wait to try it out at a competition.

Had a comp today up at North Palm. Didnt do to good, But the rig handled great, just some mishaps and bad luck. But i have to switch my shocks to shorter ones, and i have distribute weight to the front. So next week will be a lot better.

DickyT 08-29-2010 03:52 PM

The rig looks great! After seeing it run today, you certainly need the 4" shocks you have coming. Your driving is getting better kid, you pulled some really nice lines today.

No comp next weekend though. With three of the club going out for nats and lcq, we are just going to have a practice day at Haulover.

Rocky666 08-29-2010 04:38 PM

Thanks, you did a great great job too even if you dont think you did. Those shocks will definately help, from what my dads telling me they will anyway. I forgot nationals was next week, that will be cool. Hopefully you guys own in it. Cant wait for haulover, hopefully I get my shocks before then and then i can test those out.
