Default Grim's Edge Tuber

Well since the Edge is on sale at TCS and I have a RTC collecting dust on a shelf I figured now would be a good time to build tuber. I have always liked the Edge chassis because of it's scale looks and even if it's a bit top heavy I still wanted one.

Today my chassis came in the mail and I slapped it together

Axial axles
Axial RTC links
Axial RTC rims and tires
TSC Edge Chassis
TSC body panels
TSC Decals

Upgrades comming in the mail

Hi-Tec HS5645 MG servo
CKRC servo/battery tray

I plan no lowering the shocks and add a 4 link down the road. What do you guys think?

Looks good. Here's what I what do.

Add tires. (Rovers, Sedona's, ect.)

4 Link is a MUST! Won't be long before that 3 link hole stripes out anyway.

Metal links, front and rear. For the rear I would suggest bent links.

awesome another edge owner woot woot. very clean looking rig you got there. move your lower links to the inside of the chassis. remove your spring and add internal springs to your shocks. it will lower your ride height. and 4 link is a must tcs sells the boomerang 4 link plate for like 7 bucks with all the necessary hardware to install.

Droop in full effect. I wanted to see how it looked and performed with the springs on the shocks and it looked bad but performed better. Now I have internal springs and it looks good but performs worse lol the added height helped to get up and over rocks...oh welll I am going for that scale look anyways....

sitting super low

The servo wil be moved to the far right once my servo tray comes

Thanks, I'll get a 4 link quick, I like the proline hammers and will wear them out before I get a new set

Is there a happy middle ground for the shock set up on the edge chassis? With the shocks in droop (springs on the inside) the truck has great low COG but gets stuck on every little lip on the rocks and looks great.

With the shocks with springs on the ouside the truck has high COG but can get up and over my test rock pile no problem and looks goofy sitting so high up.

So is there a better option? Maybey a shorter spring on the outside? or limit the shocks?

Right now with droop (internal springs) it is sitting at 1 3/4" and IMO 2 1/2" is the optimal height for the AX10

After some tinkering I added some 120mm aluminum shocks I had laying around and added soft internal springs in the front and stiff internal springs in the rear, added a 4 link, and it works better but still is a belly dragger.

I have a tranny/skid plate on order so I can move my links inbound and a Tamiya frog driver to give it that scale look.

I'll post updated pictures once everything gets here.

i took the internal springs from tcs and cut them down, so i have about a third of the spring inside the shock as a limiter and then i put the stock rtc springs back on the outside, so im about 70% sprung, 30% droop. with my new 4 link (which is a must) im sitting at just below 3 in of clearance which is a little high for me. it performs pretty well on everything except sidehills. next time i rebuild my shocks i'll probably put the other 2/3 in instead and see how it sits.

I like the clean look of everything, are all the running gear hidden under the top plate and how easy is it to remove if necessary? That setup leaves room for a half driver and steerin wheel.

Thanks me 2! The price is perfect for the edge so I couldn't pass it up.

Yes! I have my Novak ESC, Reciever, on/off switch tucked away inside for scale looks. I extended to ESC battery connection so I could get to it with out having to take off the top plate. All the plates are held on by zip ties.
I should get my new skid/trans plate and bent links today in the mail so I can move my links inbord. I also have a driver (Tamiya frog driver) in the mail and I added some netting to give it that scale look as well.

OK the Edge is all done! Got my parts today and installed

1. TCS Edge chassis
2. TCS Edge panels
3. TCS Edge decals
4. The Crawler Store Skid plate
5. AX10 bent links
6. Hot Racing 120mm aluminum shocks
7. Proline Hammers
8. Tamiya From driver
9. Home made netting
10. Novak Rooster Crawler ESC
11. Novak 45T Motor
12. Hi-Tec Servo
13. RC4WD 2.4ghz RX/TX
14. Axial shock spacers
15. The Crawler Store 4 link

I got my ride height up to 2 1/2" and now it crawls perfectly! What I did was add some spacers on the shock shaft (outside) and that gave me the lift I needed.

I got the driver idea from mat (another user on these forums) so thanks mat! he fits perfectly!

Here is what she looks like....

I repainted the driver because I felt it stood out to much, What do you think?
