Default Tuning Help Please!

Well I have upgraded all of my gears on my rig now. Overdrive front, under rear, and Robinson tranny gears. Shafts are MIPs so drive train is pretty much set. I need to work out my link geometry mainly in the front.

Here are some pics of my current setup. I moved my lower shock mounts inboard so that my front wheels do not rub up the springs and this gives me a little more steering as I am running a good deal of toe out.

Front is 3 link rear is 4 link.

My biggest problem is when I am climbing close to 70 deg incline it will just roll back.

The front two wheels+weights are at 16oz. The rear two wheels have no weights and weigh in at 6oz.

Well that's because 70 degrees is a lot. At that point you're either gonna flip over or lose all traction.

You should wipe all that extra grease off of the driveshaft CV which will do nothing but attract dirt.

You need one of these.

Underground Crawlers "D-Mount" 4link mounts

Like EeePee said, 70* isn't anything to complain about. My own rig usually washes out about then by either flipping over or the tires can't keep traction.

It seems that my rig is just not squatting enough in the front under power. I read that thread on squat and anti-squat a while back. If I lower the front uppers would this help on climbs?

The front won't squat because its going uphill and all the weight (and traction) is on the rear. There isn't enough a-s in the world that will change the laws of physics.

Putting the rear links on top of the axle plate might help your situation a tad.

When doing anti-squat tuning, or any tuning for that matter, you have to change one thing at a time. Drive a line a few times, make a change, drive the same line again a few times, adjust until you find your sweet spot.

A good starting point is with the links parallel to the ground.

I'm with Duuuuuuuude on the UGC D plate, it adds many more tuning options, and put the links on a vertical plane, articulation is smoother for it.

Thanks for all the help guys. I just lowered the front uppers one level on the chassis. If I am understanding this correctly am I increasing anti-squat over the front axle?

Use Photobucket.com or another free photo website and directly link the IMG code.

Also I got over my 65-70 degree mound today! I increased anti squat in the rear and also inboarded my front shocks inside my lower link mounts on the axle.

Now steering does not get bound up at all. Thoes OD and UD gears definitely help hop it up there!

I wounder if a stiffer spring in the rear would help too ( unless you have already tried this? ) I run golds in the front and I went from whites to yellows in the rear. I like my front shocks loose and floppy and the rears some what firm, but like said before "70* is a lot"

Hey, with the links on the outside, do they ever contact the springs during articulation?

on mine they would rub, it's a blackwidow so the chassis is really narrow.

Don't ask how I know that.

Not sure he can....looks like he shortened his two standoff posts, and there is no room for the stock front mount. Maybe?

Well, he could shorten the third mount as well.

In a hurry too. One moderate bind on the rear axle and you can kiss them goodbye. Those mounts produce a lot of leverage.
