Axial AX10 Scorpion Rock Crawler RTC 2.4GHz

Tower is showing the Axial AX10 RTC, model number AX90011, as 'Axial AX10 Scorpion Rock Crawler RTC 2.4GHz'. Here is the link:

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXAKLT&P=ML

The Axial website does not show anything about this, but it would appear the RTC may be shipping with a 2.4Ghz radio now. Anyone hear anything about this? I wonder what else might be changing...

thomas 10-08-2010 03:51 PM

i think thats just a special that they are personally doing.

kurtz49 10-08-2010 09:28 PM

I don't think so. I had the AX10 RTC on my wish list and I just got an e-mail from Tower telling me that item is no longer available so it has been deleted from my wish list. The e-mail also suggested an alternative, specifically 'Axial AX10 Scorpion Rock Crawler RTC 2.4GHz'. Plus if you look at Tower's site it clearly is not a 'combo' they have put together...it is specifically Axial part #AX90011. Also there are no specs for the item and no picture yet...all I believe because there is a new/revised RTC on it's way.

I could be totally wrong...but I am intrigued none the less.

This would be the smartest thing Axial could do, the AM RTR stuff is junk. It's funny when you call them and they already know the stuff they have is not working. They can either fix the problem or lower the prices on the RTR package.

kurtz49 10-08-2010 11:45 PM

Tower shows the ARTR as a stock status of 'Discontinued' so it looks like the AX10 will be down to two models, true RTR for the RC first timer, and the RTC with 2.4 Ghz for the RC vet but Crawler noob. I hope they upgrade the RTC ESC to be lipo ready right ouf the box. That would be sweet.

Gratuitious bump...anyone heard anything about this?

cornsnake 10-13-2010 02:13 AM

SWX/RTC???"thumbsup"

kurtz49 10-13-2010 09:46 AM

That would be too sweet. Eventually Tower is going to have to put a picture to this item and maybe then we'll find out.

kurtz49 10-15-2010 11:05 AM

Okay...Tower finally put up a description, (see the link in the first post), and it includes:
  • Radio: AX-2 2.4GHz 2-channel pistol grip with steering and throttle trim and reverse

Not sure what else is new, but at the very least this. Coolio.

whatwasithinkin 11-13-2010 08:21 AM

I can comfirm that the AX10 RTC does come with a AX-2 2.4GHz radio as mine came this way.

But the instructions with the RTC kit shows the old style radio and has no applicable instructions for the AX-2 radio. This is already causing me some problem as Im having radio/rec/ESC problems right out of the box. There is a real problem with forward/reverse control or lack of.

Ive had a few suggestions for possible remidies in a thread I started, but Im wondering now if the advice offered pertained to the old radio/electronics. When I started that thread I didnt relise that the AX-2 was a recent change made for the AX10 RTC.

I guess its on to asking Axial directly what to do at this point.

RTR is out along with the ARTR. Both have been pulled from the tower line up

Jeepkid 11-13-2010 09:18 AM

I think its a switch over from the standard radio. Everyone is going 2.4 GHz, making the radios somewhat cheaper to build.

R/CMaxximus5.0 12-31-2010 12:12 PM

anyone have any updates on this??? Still out of stock @ Tower....
Also I read somewhere it will have a dragbrake ESC??

R/CMaxximus5.0 12-31-2010 12:23 PM

No info on Axial's site either... & the ARTR and RTR are still listed???
Tower shows them as discontinued.

prof_fate 12-31-2010 12:27 PM

2.4 is standard now

I got an RTC earlier this month from some (amain i think) online shop and it came with a 2.4 radio for $239.

I have since replaced with a spektrum but the axial radio and esc now are in my vintage RC10.

prof_fate 12-31-2010 12:30 PM

mine came a page added to the box of instructions regarding the 2.4 radio. I had to bind it (as per the instructions).

The stock ESC is wired 'backwards' to the motor on purpose - "normal" on RC cars is to have fwd/rev and a brake/delay when you go from fwd to reverse - on the RTC it's setup so that the brake works on reverse (so you can use use it going down a hill).

Ok, I am a newbie but it looks like all I need to buy is a battery, charger and remote batteries??
Is there a better way to build that or a better bang for the buck?? Seems like a good deal!

PhantomRS10 01-06-2011 08:12 PM

Ready to crawl = throw in batterys in the radio charge of a battery pack an start the best time of your life

ASTAR 01-07-2011 05:35 AM

Seems like a hard deal to go wrong with. What would be must do upgrades to this package?

matt_22 01-07-2011 11:06 PM

i got mine from there but i got a combo deal, witch came with battery stick, charger and batterys for the 2.4 remote that it came with.. that was 3 months ago....
