The two I really like are the Tekin FXR and the Holmes Hobbies BR-XL.

Tekin FX-R for sure! It is silky smooth, and very easy to use/setup. The drag brake is great. Plus, you can run 3s on it. I'm running mine on 3s, with a Holmes Hobbies 35t handwound. Kickass setup!

You might be able to find a used waterproof BRXL, but unless I missed something, you won't be able to get one waterproofed new for a while yet due to problems with the mold. I don't think any of the other ESCs can be bought waterproofed (I could be wrong) but I'm sure there are methods on here for waterproofing any of em |

Another vote for a Novak Rooster Crawler. It's specifically designed for crawling, and has a great drag brake. Out of curiosity, has anyone run Mamba Max or Max Pro on a crawler? How well did it work out? I happen to have an extra one sitting around, and might use it to upgrade from the RTR ESC on another crawler. |

As far as drag brakes go, I've used the FX-r side by side with the Novak, and there is no comparison. The FX-r is WAY smoother. If you want waterproof, you could just get one of the waterproof cases, like what's found on the Slash. Axial makes one too. I use an FX-R it has smooth operation, great drag brake, and its very small and easy to mount almost anywhere..... I have three of them.

i've ran the fx-r and novak goat 3S, and now im running a Mamba Max Pro. i did NOT like the novak, i loved the fx-r's size but thats it, i wouldn't take anything for my MMP!! just wish the case was a little smaller I vote for MMP all the way |

Well I went and got the FXR today just need to get the hot link now seems as that would be the easest way to program it.SO im new to the whole Lipo thing and i was thinking of running 3s with my stock ax10 55turn and stock tranny. is there anything else i would need to run that like is a BEC needed?

Good choice! You will NOT be dissapointed! You can reasonably easily program everything with the buttons on the FXR. I have mine on 3s, and the drag brake set just like I like it, and that's all I've used. I would recommend a BEC, for sure! It is definitely an asset. Other than that, you don't need anything else. Just get an HH 35t handwound, when you can. Great upgrade! I also have a spare 10t puller kickin' around, if you are interested. |

I run a Mamba Max and considering I went from a Rooster, only 2S capable the Mamba Max is amazing. It is a bit overkill so I may downgrade to a Sidewinder, but overall both are great and with the castle link or field programmer your set |
