Question Axial AX10/Tekin motor pinion/spur alignment problem

Hi just in the process of getting mi pinion aligned with tekin motor on AX10 having problem the shaft is short or they didn’t grind the flat shaft part long enough! When trying to put pinion on so the head is towards motor the shaft is i bit small because if i align pinion and shaft i can manage to get in full contact with spur gear like 75%.and the other way is the same shaft part for pinion fastenal is not long enough.
Anyone experience the same problem?

Try grinding the flat spot longer.

If you are careful you can do it! Just make sure you use a dremel and hold every thing nice and tight.

I had to do it on a buddies motor that he wanted to install in his AX10

I used a couple of 3mm spacers between the motor and the mounting plate to push the motor back a bit so I could get the full mesh of the pinion gear. I ran it that way all comp season long without any issues.

I was thinking about that but didn't know if it safe and if motor will slide because of that. But it worked for you then I’ll give try for sure. Thanks for help

For all the machinist I’ll like to see that there would be someone who can make a new motor mount that is 3mm thicker than the axial stock one. I’ll buy one for sure. Anyone who knows by any chance about mount like that that is already in making can you provide me with link Thanks a lot

I just use washers on mine and there is no problem. just be sure to but a tiny dab of blue thread locker on the screws to hold them in place.

Or like everyone has said, just take the dremmel and grind a bit more area to lock down.

One more thing, do you have the transmission spacer in the tranny. Its a small little green spacer that goes on the shaft. sometimes people forget that and it pushes the spur gear in too far. then everything would line up without an issue.

Do you have slipper clutch removed? On one of my crawlers I removed the clutch and was forced to add spacers as previously suggested.

I dont know if it comes with it or not. Judging from the picture It doesnt look like you have one. But the angle of the picture could be decieving.
